10 Movies We Look Forward To Seeing this 2018:

1. “A Quiet Place.” Directed and starred by John Krasinski, this unique horror tale is going to enchant you for– that’s for sure. In a place where silence is strongly observed, a family seeks survival without so much as a sound. It also stars “The Edge of Tomorrow” lead actress Emily Blunt. Catch this chilling film on April!

2. “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.” Finally releasing a sequel to the blockbuster hit “Heneral Luna,” director Jerrold Tarog is featuring the short-lived heroic life of Gregorio del Pilar– the youngest general recorded in history during the Philippine-American war. This historical epic is going to shake the ground for sure– so don’t miss this!

3. “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” It’s time for a little magic and wonder! Back for a second installment, J.K. Rowling’s fantasy-adventure book is hitting the big screens. The handsome Eddie Redmayne will be starring the film, together with Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, and the rest of the gang.

4. “Black Panther.” This may just be the sexiest Marvel Studios superhero of all time. Get a good look at Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther in this Action-Adventure movie. It will also feature Michael B. Jordan, Martin Freeman, and Forest Whitaker, among others.

5. “Darna.” Meanwhile, in the local superhero industry, heroine Darna will also be flying this 2018. Acclaimed director Erik Matti will be handling this reboot– and we’re all looking forward to a good ole Mars Ravelo throwback. But this time, with better graphics and action scenes, hopefully. It will be starring Liza Soberano and Iza Calzado, among others.

6. “Maze Runner: The Death Cure.” Now if you’re into Dystopia and all that sci-fi suspense stuff, the Maze Runner troops are back. Get your heart racing with this action-thriller movie starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Ki-Hong Lee, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, among the rest. Immerse in their escape plan– will it finally be the end of WCKD days?

7. “Citizen Jake.” After 17 long years, director of historical gem “Maynila sa Kuko ng Liwanag” Mike De Leon returns with another message-heavy film. In this Noir Crime drama film, he puts into light political and societal truths. “Citizen Jake” was originally meant to be a part of the recent  Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), but because of some issues, the directed decided to refuse to participate. The film stars journalist Atom Araullo and will be released this March.

8. “The Commuter.” On the other hand, here’s another Crime-Mystery drama starring “Taken” lead actor Liam Neeson and “Bates Motel” actress Vera Farmiga. Expect a lot of hair-raising plot twists and road chases with this one– and nothing less.

9. “Every Day.” This is a guaranteed unlikely love story. It’s based on David Levithan’s novel of the same name. It narrates the story of a formless spirit that hops on people’s lives every day– and will eventually catch the interest of a 16-year-old girl. In an odd soul search for each other, the very nature of romance and infiniteness will be challenged. Fall in love with them this February!

10. “Kusina Kings.” Speaking of spirits, get to know Zanjoe Marudo and Empoy Marquez’s friendship in this comedy-drama movie. Find out how best friends handle a cooking business and learn a thing or two about differences along the way. Oh, and have we mentioned, Empoy is actually a spirit in this film?
