These surefire September Movies 2018 will amp up your would-be night outs and will leave every workweek more than satisfied. Brace yourself for this month’s movies: “The Nun,” “Alpha,” “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” “A Simple Favor,” “A.X.L.,” “The Predator,” “Wheely,” “Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka,” “The House with a Clock in its Walls,” “Papillion,” “Replicas,” “Marjorie Prime,” “Night School,” “Peppermint,” and “Smallfoot.” September opens the Ber Months with Anticipated Films “The Nun” (September 5) is a Gothic horror flick, which is a spin-off of “The Conjuring 2” (2016). It is also the fifth installment to “The Conjuring Universe.” It tells the story of a priest with a mysterious past and a novice at the brink of her final vows. They are sent to the Vatican to investigate a young nun’s death in Romania, leading them to malevolent encounters with a demonic nun. “Alpha” (September 5) tells the story of a man has a difficult time finding his way home. In a buffalo hunt that separates him from his tribe, he was almost at a loss for hope. He finds companionship in a lost wolf and begins a friendship like no other. “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (September 5) is a historical epic film that stars Paulo Avelino as Gregorio “Goyo” del Pilar who is the youngest general in the Philippine-American War. It is a sequel to the widely-acclaimed film, “Heneral Luna.” “A Simple Favor” (September 12) stars Anna Kendrick who plays the role of Stephanie Smothers, and Blake Lively, who is Emily Nelson in the film. The comedy thriller zeroes in on a blogger who tries to solve the mystery of the disappearance of her rich best friend. The cast also includes Henry Golding and Andrew Rannells. “A.X.L.” (September 12) stars Alex Neustaedter, Becky G, Alex MacNicoll, Dominic Rains, and Thomas Jane. It is an adventure film about a boy who encounters a robotic dog that is created through topnotch military technology. “The Predator” (September 12) is a science fiction action film which is the fourth installment in the “Predator” film series. It follows a group of mercenaries who put it upon themselves to protect a small town from an invading group of Predators. “Wheely” (September 12) is a cabbie who wants nothing but to save the love of his life from his adversary, an 18-wheeler truck who was behind a luxury car-napping syndicate. “Nakalimutan Ko Nang Kalimutan Ka” (September 19) stars Alex Gonzaga, Jerald Napoles and Vin Abrenica. In the film, Vin’s character breaks the heart of Jaz (Alex) who then struggles with getting over. She goes on a road trip with her best friend (Jerald) in the hopes of healing her pain. “The House with a Clock in its Walls” (September 19) is a fantasy film based on the 1972 novel of the same title. The star-studded cast includes Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, and Owen Vaccaro. It is about a boy who goes to live with his uncle in an old house not knowing the mystery of what lurks within its walls. “Papillion” (September 19) is about a French convict named Henri Charrière, a.k.a. “Papillioin” played by Charlie Hunnam. Papillion was a French writer who was convicted for murder. While in jail, he wrote the famous novel “Papillion” – a memoir of his incarceration and escape. The movie also stars Rami Malek and Roland Moller. “Replicas” (September 19) stars Keanu Reeves, Alice Eve, and Thomas Middleditch. It is a sci-fi thriller about a biologist who goes against the laws of nature to bring back his family to life. “Marjorie Prime” (September 26) is also a science fiction film based on a play of the same name by Jordan Harrison. The story is set to the year 2050 where Marjorie (Lois Smith) experiences the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. In an attempt to bring comfort, Marjorie’s daughter Tess (Geena Davies) and son-in-law Jon (Tim Robbins) hire Prime. It is a service that aids Alzheimer patients by creating holographic images of family members who passed away, feeding them with memories. Marjorie then chose a younger version of her late husband Walter (John Hamm) who passed away years ago. “Night School” (September 26) stars Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish. It is a comedy about a group of adults who decide on earning their GEDs by attending night school. They hope against hope to finish high school. “Peppermint” (September 26) is a story about revenge starring Jennifer Garner, John Gallagher, Jr., John Ortiz, and much more. In the movie, Jennifer is Riley North – a young mom out to take vengeance on her enemies who have stolen her life. “Smallfoot” (September 27) tells the heartfelt story of a Yeti who believes that the difficult-to-catch creatures known as “humans” really do exist. The animated film stars the voices of Hollywood A-listers Zendaya, Channing Tatum, James Corden, Gina Rodriguez, Danny DeVito, Yara Shahidi, Jimmy Tatro, Common, LeBron James, Ely Henry, and Ryder James.
