La La Land (2016)

Lionsgate’s acclaimed ‘La La Land’ movie starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling won Best Picture at the 2016 Critics Choice Award in Los Angeles on Sunday. Writer and director Damien Chazelle accepted the award on behalf of the production.

‘La La Land’ is a romantic musical comedy-drama film about aspiring actress Mia (Emma Stone) and struggling musician Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) who try desperately to make a name for themselves in the entertainment industry. The two meet and eventually fall in love in Los Angeles, also known as ‘La la Land.’

‘La La Land’ Wins Critics Choice Award, Predicts The Oscars, Box Office Hit

The film ‘La La Land’ premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was nominated in twelve categories. Aong them were Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Score. The movie won a total of eight Critics Choice Awards. The Film

The Critics Choice Awards have the reputation of predicting the Best Picture award for The Oscars. Since 2000, winners for the Critics Choice Awards turn out to be the winners for Best Picture during the Oscars.

According to Forbes, ‘La La Land’ earned $855,000 over the weekend. It grabbed the biggest weekend gross for a live-action release in eight or fewer screens.

La La Land also won the TIFF People’s Choice Award in September and the New York Film Critics Circle’s Best Film in December.

Emma Stone And Ryan Gosling Sing ‘La La Land’ OST Song

Thirty-five year old Ryan Gosling sang to the tune of “City of Stars”  for a teaser trailer of the movie. Not long after, Emma Stone also sang “Audition” for another teaser trailer of the movie. On December 7, Lionsgate released an official clip from the movie showing Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling sing “City of Stars.”

‘La La Land’ is the third movie to feature Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. First was ‘Crazy, Stupid Love’ and ‘Gangster Squad.’
