$5.4 M Of Jewelry, A Rare Handmade Coat And A Suit Of Armor Stolen In Recent String Of Robberies

In a recent string of robberies in different parts of the world, thieves stole $5.4 million worth of jewelry, a rare handmade coat and a suit of armor. According to news reports, the robberies took place and were reported within the past few days. The robberies occurred in different places, such as Texas, Paris and on an airplane from Canada to the United States.

Daring Jewelry Heist In Central Paris

According to a CBS report, the jewelry heist involved five men wearing hoods and bearing axes, who stormed in the famous Ritz Hotel in central Paris on Jan. 10. The thieves entered through the hotel’s back entrance. They were however arrested minutes later when three of the five men were trapped because of the hotel’s automatic locking system.

Two other men however escaped with the jewels, estimated to cost around 4 million Euros. According to authorities, those arrested were in their twenties. This was the second major robbery of jewels in Europe this past week. The first one happened in Venice, Italy the previous week.

A Suit Of Armor Stolen In Texas

As the Williamson family welcomed the New Year in Hood County, Texas, robbers took off with a suit of armor that was standing on their porch. Nadya Williamson said that the suit of armor whom they fondly called Murphy, had more sentimental value than retail value.

Murphy was a wedding gift to them by a good friend and has been with them for 16 years. Last December, they moved the suit to their porch from their living room so that they can set up their Christmas decorations for the holidays. The Williamsons are hopeful that this is just a prank and that Murphy will be home soon.

Missing Rare, Handmade Coat Goes Viral

Pura Fe Crescioni, a Native American musician, shared her disappointment when someone stole her rare, handmade coat during a flight from Canada to Seattle. The one-of-a-kind coat was handmade by Pura herself and was decorated with paintings of creation stories of her nation. It was stolen along with one of her drums and her jewelry, which was in one carry-on luggage.

The incident happened in Nov. 2017, so when she posted a video about it, she was taken by surprise when it went viral. According to a Kiro7 report, it became viral not just because of the coat but also because of Crescioni calling attention to the dire situation of her sister and bandmate Charly Lowry.
