After the reign of Pia Wurtzbach, it is Miss France Iris Mittenaere’s turn to be the most beautiful woman in the universe. As the new Miss Universe, she will represent the Miss Universe Organization in all its initiatives in the coming year. Here are five things you should know about her.
1. She is working on a degree on Dental Surgery.
According to an article on Mirror, the native of Lille, France carries with her an advocacy for dental health and oral hygiene. She carried this advocacy all throughout the pageant. This is not surprising since she has the smile to prove it. She is also working on a degree on dental surgery.
2. Iris Mittenaere brings honor to France after 63 years.
She brought honor to her country, France, after 63 years of waiting. The crown was once worn by Miss France back in 1953, by Christiane Martel. Mittenaere also put Europe back in the running for the Miss Universe title after a 18-year drought.
3. She celebrated her birthday during the pageant.
She celebrated her 24th birthday here in the Philippines on January 26. She posted a photo of her birthday cake on her Instagram account. She also captioned it with the hashtags #wish and #roadtomissuniverse, as if saying what she wants the most for her birthday.
4. She loves to cook.
Her Instagram account bears witness to this. She usually posts photos and videos of her culinary creations on social media. According to the article, she recently enjoyed a cooking session with Chef Frederic Anton.
5. She says her best experiences in the Philippines include eating mangoes and visiting Cebu.
In the early part of the pageant, Iris Mittenaere joined some of the pre-pageant activities. Among these were the visits to Baguio and Cebu. During her first press conference as Miss Universe, she was asked what were her best experiences. She answered that aside from eating mangoes which were “the best,” she would remember her visit to Cebu on what she called a “sunny day.” She also said that she loved the country and the Filipinos.
