5 Things We Know About James Reid And Sarah Geronimo’s Upcoming Movie

Sarah Geronimo and James Reid are starring in a movie together. The duo has been quite a pair during their ASAP performances and they are known for their electrifying stage presence and their chemistry on stage. This same presence will soon be projected onto the big screen.

Reid made the confirmation in an interview on ASAP Chillout. He is excited for his fans to see his new film with Philippine’s own Queen of Pop and their movie would be unlike anything the two have done before. Here are a few things we know about the upcoming film.

Sarah Geronimo and James Reid’s Movie is a Korean Film Remake

James and Sarah’s new movie is a remake of the hit 2014 Korean film “Miss Granny.” The Korean film centers on a woman in her ’70s finds herself in the body of her 20-year-old self. At first not knowing what to do, she hides from her family. She soon ends up lodging with her fellow cafe shop worker. In time, because no one recognizes her, she decides to make the most out this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. James compares the movie to Zac Efron’s “17 Again” which has the same plot points as “Miss Granny.” Two adults who have a second chance with their youth.

Sarah Geronimo Plays James’ Grandmother. James Reid mentions Sarah will be playing his Grandmother, the character who will magically turn young again. In the original Korean film, “Miss Granny,” the protagonist, magically turns 20 after having her picture taken at a mysterious photo studio.  On the contrary, the character that Sarah plays has quite a sad start in the original film. After her daughter-in-law is hospitalized, her son is forced to take her into a nursing home. Dismayed, she wanders off and finds a photo studio who claims to capture one’s lost youth. It will be exciting to see how James and Sarah’s movie will show her transformation.

There is a musical element to the movie. The movie gives Sarah a second chance in achieving her dreams. The protagonist has always wanted to become a singer. After wowing a group of pensioners with her karaoke number, she is discovered by a TV music producer. She then joins a band that later becomes successful. Her grandson is also in the band but he is unaware that their new lead singer is actually his own grandmother. Of course, we all know Sarah Geronimo is an amazing singe, and so is James. So we could expect some sing-offs here and there.

Nadine Lustre is not in the movie with James Reid. Everyone wants to know if this is another JaDine project, but sad to say, this is James’ solo project. The two have been on numerous projects together such as “On The Wings of Love,” and the summer blockbuster hut “This Time.” Although they are proud of each other’s success, both James and Nadine are ready to set off on their own solo acts. Nadine is reportedly working on her solo film, ‘The Nurse.’

The movie will screen by the end of this year. James and Sarah have already started shooting their film, which will hit cinemas before the year ends. It marks the first of many other projects they will star in. James is excited to have a movie together with Sarah. and the audience can clearly see how this dynamic duo commands the stage whenever they perform and of course, in their upcoming film. By the end of this year, we will be able to see the two on the big screen as a grandmother and grandson in an unlikely situation.
