Thinking of bringing your date to something spectacular this Valentine’s? The much-awaited music and lights show of the year, the 8th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition, is opening on Feb. 11, Saturday. Once again, the night sky near SM Mall of Asia will light up as leading pyrotechnic companies compete for this year’s grand winner award. This year’s competition will bring together 11 companies from seven countries.

Last year’s grand winner, Pyrotex Fireworks from the United Kingdom, is returning to compete again this year.

2017 Line Up Of Shows

The opening show will kick off on February 11 with a musical performance of Pinoy rock icon Bamboo. Two countries will be ready to wow the crowd with their pyromusical arrangements. These are the Philippine-based Platinum Fireworks and the French Pyragic Feux D’Artifice. Platinum Fireworks is also one of the sponsors for this year.

This year’s opening salvo will be led by Platinum Fireworks and according to the official Facebook page, it will be a tribute to the hits of the 1980s.

The shows continue every Saturday. On Feb. 18, two German companies will go head to head: Steffes-Olig Feuerwerke and Nico Events. The week after, on Feb. 25, it will be the Chinese companies, namely Polaris Fireworks and Lidu Fireworks. On March 4, the Canadians will take center stage: Garden City Display Fireworks and Hands Fireworks.

The United Kingdom’s Pyrotex Fireworks and Jubilee Fireworks Ltd. will show the public what they have on March 11. On the final show night, Australia’s Skylighter Fireworx will perform, while the closing show will be led by Platinum Fireworks once again.

Where To Buy Tickets, Ticket Prices

Tickets prices are as follows: Patron (with dinner), PhP 1,500; VIP, PhP 600; Gold, PhP 300; and Silver, PhP 100. For details of the event layout, check the Facebook page or the Platinum Fireworks website.
