Here are some science-backed activities that you can do to get that much-needed energy boost in the morning, as shared on Upworthy. No need to worry as these things only takes a few minutes of your time, so try them out. 1. Make your bed. According to the Upworthy article, surveys show that the 71% of 68,000 people who make their own beds in the morning generally “consider themselves happy” as opposed to the 62% who don’t make their own beds. The principle behind this is that a messy bed may likely cause stress. After doing the deed, you can pat yourself on the back for doing something productive early in the morning. This sense of accomplishment will go a long way if you going to have a long, busy day. 2. Do a quick and easy cleaning task – in the kitchen, in the living room, in your home office The same principle behind making your own bed is at work here. Lessening clutter in and around you will also lessen sources of stress inside your home. This may mean taking some time to clear your office table of things or papers that you do not need anymore. Or it may also mean doing a quick sweep of your bedroom or your living room. 3. Try a glass of lemon-infused water. Many reports have been shared about the benefits of lemon water or water infused with lemon. And let us lay some of them down again here: hydration, a good source of vitamin C, clears the skin, help reduce uric acid build up that may lead to joint pains and other aches. 4. Draw your curtains and let some light in. Get some sunlight inside your room by drawing your curtains. If you can, you can also open your window a bit to let the breeze in as well. For breakfast, eat something light, high in fiber and grains. This emphasizes the need to stop taking greasy and heavy breakfasts, as these tend to weigh one down as the day progresses. This means replacing your fried bacon and eggs and toast, with a bowl of oatmeal or cereal, a bowl of fruit, or brown rice with a healthy source of protein. 6. Do a five-minute meditation.
