Tropical depression Urduja

Tropical depression Urduja is moving closer to the Bicol region as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (PAGASA). It is expected to make landfall in Bicol or Eastern Visayas on Saturday. Meanwhile,  classes have been suspended on Wednesday in Camarines Sur, Albay.

At 3 am on Wednesday, Tropical Depression Urduja was estimated based on all available data at 455 km East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte with maximum winds of 55 km/hr and gustiness of up to 65 km/hr. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 7 km/hr.

Urduja expected to make landfall on Saturday, Class Suspensions Dec 13

PAGASA continues to monitor the movement of Tropical depression Urduja. According to the PAGASA report via Facebook live, if Urduja continues its forecast track, it is expected to make landfall in the Bicol area or Eastern Visayas on Saturday. It will also affect the Southern part of Luzon during the weekend.

The report says a Northeast monsoon will continue to affect North and Central Luzon. The tail of a cold front, on the other hand, will affect the Bicol Region and Quezon Province.

At 4 am today, PAGASA says Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas with experience Cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms with possible flashfloods and landslides. Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, MIMAROPA, and Calabarzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms with possible flashfloods or landslides as well.

Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and the rest of Central Luzon, however, will have cloudy skies with scattered rains. The Ilocos Region will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies.

No tropical warning signals have been raised but the public is advised to further monitor Severe weather bulletins.

Meanwhile, the Inquirer reported that classes have been suspended in Camarines Sur, Albay on Wednesday, Dec 13. Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel Luis Villafuerte said classes in both public and private schools have been suspended due to heavy rainfall. The Albay Provincial government also suspended classes in preschool and elementary both in public and private schools. The report also says the University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City also suspended classes in elementary.
