Rumored Korean Celeb Couples: From Reel To Real?

Agencies of Goblin’s Lee Dong Wook and Bae Suzy of “While You Were Sleeping” confirmed news that they were indeed dating. On Wednesday, March 7, Park Shin Hye and Choi Tae Joon also confirmed dating rumors also through their agencies. With all these Korean celebs keeping their relationship a mystery, who else could we expect confirming dating rumors soon? 

With the Korean entertainment agencies being pretty strict when it comes to their actors and K-Pop idols’ dating life, more and more Korean celebs are being discreet about the matter. Now it doesn’t mean celebs can’t have relationships. In some cases, they aren’t just allowed to publicize it. But since K-pop is one big thing everybody would want to be updated about, Korean celebs are kind of having a hard time in keeping their dates private.

Korean celebs who kept things a mystery

G-Dragon and Lee Joo Yeon

After the debunk of the 5-year speculation that G-Dragon was dating famous Japanese model Mizuhara Kiko, the BIGBANG leader, and Lee Joo Yeon were spotted together celebrating a holiday near the end of 2017. This, of course, started dating rumors. Dispatch reported on New Year’s Day that the two were seen on their secret dates and trip to Jeju island where they got on different flights and met up in G-Dragon’s home in the Island. The two were also rumored to be seeing each other in their homes with G-Dragon driving his private car to see Joo Yeon. However, as a reserved person as he is, G-Dragon still says nothing about it.

Lee Joon and Jung Somin

Dating rumors on “Father Is Strange” co-stars Lee Joon and Jung So Min started in October 2017. The on-screen to the off-screen couple are said to have enjoyed dating at a department store in Pangyo. The two picked out scarves before having dinner together. Two months after, their agencies confirmed their relationship.  

Jellyfish Entertainment released a statement saying, “Jung So Min first met Lee Joon as a co-star on ‘Father is Strange,’ and they began dating in October. We would be grateful if everyone would watch over them warmly.” Prain TPC also spoke on behalf of Lee Joon. Here’s the statement: “Lee Joon is currently in a relationship with Jung So Min, who he met through ‘Father is Strange.’ They began dating in October and are currently very supportive of each other. Lee Joon is currently getting plenty of rest so that he can do his best when he returns to the army after his break ends.”

BIGBANG’s Taeyang and Min Hyo Rin

Speculations on BIGBANG’s Taeyang and actress Min Hyo Rin’s rumored relationship first began in 2013. The two met at the music video shoot for his single “1 AM.” December of the same year, people claimed they saw Taeyang with Min Hyo Rin, renting a screening room for an event.  There are rumors that they saw the two at Jeju Island on vacation. ‘Alleged’ matching couple rings and running shoes have also surfaced. It took them four years to admit it but they confirmed their engagement December last year and tied the knot February this year.

Park Bo Gum and Red Velvet’s Irene

The dating rumors started after these former KBS Music Bank hosts have gotten much appreciation from fans because of their undeniable chemistry when paired together. On a TV appearance on Radio Star in December 2016,  Red Velvet’s Irene disclosed her true feelings for actor Park Bo Gum. That’s where she also knew that there were dating rumors about her and Bo Gum.  Eventually, she put an end to it. She said that her feelings rooted from Bo Gum’s sweet gestures. “As everyone knows, he has good manners. If I’m wearing heels, he would hold my hand if there were stairs,” she shared.

K-Drama Stars Kang Dong Won And Jung Ryeo Won

This one is remembered to have gotten really serious and legal. Rumors about Kang Dong Wong and Jung Ryeo Won dating started when a domestic Korean news outlet picked it up. The journalist who wrote about it cited a ‘vocalist’ as their source of information regarding the rumored relationship. YG entertainment then explained that the vocalist did not provide the journalist that information.

According to YG, “He [Kang Dong Won] is sorry for the actress because these dating rumors keep surfacing. The middle-aged singer has no idea how he could be [quoted] as introducing people he doesn’t know.” Jung Ryeo Won also denied the rumors of her dating Kang through her YG Entertainment representatives. “Kang Dong Won seems to have been trying to just ignore the rumors. However, we will find and take legal actions against the one who started this dating rumor,” they said in a statement.
