She fluently spoke seven different languages in a Russian TV talent show called “Udivitelniye Lyudi” (Incredible People). The linguistic prodigy spoke for almost five minutes blowing away the audience and judges as she read, spoke and understood French, Arabic, German, English, Spanish, Chinese and of course Russian. The host introduced Bella to the audience and asked her to speak to seven people who each spoke a different language. Bella started with answering questions in English, then conversing in Deutsche. She then sang in Spanish, read in French, spoke with a Chinese lady, and ended with a fun conversation in Arabic. Like any four-year-old, she answered them playfully, but unlike any toddler, she spoke each language with precision. Evgeny, one of the judges in the show said, “When I saw what I’ve just seen, I understood how stupid I am.” Bella Devyatkina, A Multilingual Little Girl In Viral Video According to RT, Bella speaks languages belonging to three different groups namely Indo-European (Russian, French, English, Spanish, German), Semitic (Arabic) and Sino-Tibetan (Chinese), which are very different from each other. In the report, Bella’s mother Yulia said that she started learning English and Russian when she was two years old. From then on, Yulia noticed her child’s interest in learning different languages. As time went by, Yulia started teaching her more languages sought help from native speakers. In Russia, children start school at the age of seven. Bella has three more years before learning formally and actually having a curriculum. But it’s clear to see that the future is bright for 4-year-old linguistic prodigy, Bella Devyatkina.
