In 2017, Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines, took up another prestigious title as the first UNESCO Creative City in the Philippines for its distinguished crafts and folk art. And this weekend provides another opportunity to celebrate and rediscover the art, culture, and identity of this city. This year, Globe, Netflix, iFlix, and Spotify in participation with Calle Uno brings “Colors of Baguio,” a collaboration of different events aiming to create purposeful, immersive, and transformational experiences featuring Baguio city.  “Colors of Baguio” is a whole day event on April 13th Saturday at Calle Uno.

Colors Of Baguio Itinerary

Like a good start to a good morning, the event kicks off with a little yoga exercise. The two-hour yoga session in the midst of the Baguio summer air begins at 9 in the morning until 11. After that, it’s lunch. Then, the real fun begins.

The first learning session begins at 1 in the afternoon. And it features a little business talk about launching businesses supporting the creative city economy. After that, city councilor Hon. Maria Mylen Yaranon will be taking over to present what’s coming up next for Baguio as one of UNESCO’s creative cities.

For the third session of “Colors of Baguio,” participants will experience something a little more hands-on. Ane Janelle Muena, a resident artist of Baguio, will be holding a rose clay sculpture 101 workshop at around 3 in the afternoon. This will be in addition to the many art workshops she has done in the past including workshops on doodling, coffee painting, and pop art.

After a little break, dinner will be served at 6:30 with the Indie Norte Group. To add more to the fun, there will be viewing areas sponsored by Netflix and iFlix where participants might get a little movie showing delight.

“Colors of Baguio” is only one of the many events around the country featuring places filled with color, personality, and life. Some of these include the Poblacion Food Crawl in Makati highlighting local food establishments and restaurants and the Escolta Block Party which brings the spotlight to one of Manila’s oldest streets. Now, it’s Baguio’s turn.
