Photo by Fiona Quinn Miss Universe Candidates in Baguio City Share on Facebook Share on Twitter (Hover over the photo above and click on the white arrow to the right to see more photos) Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and several contestants in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant were treated to their own mini floral float parade and street dancing in Baguio City. Thousands of Baguio dwellers and tourists alike came to watch the parade coming as early as 7 a.m. just to catch a glimpse of the beauties. Although the parade of floats was supposed to start at 9 a.m., it started at 11:00 a.m., from the DILG office in Upper Session Road. Four Floral Floats: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and the Baguio Country Club Four floats carried the beauties who took part in this leg of the visit. On the Luzon float, candidates like Ms. Korea, Ms. Peru, Ms. Spain, Ms. Kenya and Ms. Colombia were on board. The Visayas float included the candidates like Ms. Finland, Ms. Denmark, and Ms. Barbados. On the Mindanao float, the contestants like Ms. Canada, Ms. Norway and Ms. Guam were on board. Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach rode the Baguio Country Club float by herself wearing a royal blue gown. Miss Philippines bet Maxine Madina however was not part of today’s parade. Only 24 candidates were able to join. The parade will bring the candidates from Upper Session to South Drive and on to Baguio Country Club, where they are scheduled to do a “Meet and Greet” with golfers. Baguio City Welcomes Miss Universe 2016 Delegates A select group of PMA cadets thrilled the crowd and the candidates with a silent drill at 9:30 a.m. Since the candidates arrived a bit later than expected, participants of the street dancing and drum and lyre band played the famous Panagbenga jingle and other tunes that kept the crowd entertained. The local welcoming contingent included Ms. HRAB Karen Marie Mabalo and Ms. Cordillera Joeymay-am Leo. The candidates arrived on board a Victory Liner bus at around 10:50 a.m. The parade started at 11:00 a.m., making its way from DILG to Panagbenga Park and on to South Drive. Facebook Comments
