ABS-CBN, GMA Reveal New Shows For 2017

The battle of the local TV networks is on again, with both networks slated to release new television series and shows during the first quarter of 2017. As expected, both networks have lined up new shows that feature the network’s most popular and bankable love teams and stars.

ABS-CBN’s Teleserye Line-Up

According to an ABS-CBN Push report, several teleseryes are coming to the network. Fans of the loveteam of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will return in the fantasy series called “La Luna Sangre” which is reportedly a sequel of “Imortal” and “Lobo.” A new loveteam of Ritz Azul and Paulo Avelino will also be introduced through the series “The Promise of Forever,” which will be about an immortal (Paulo) and how he lives throughout the centuries.

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson will be paired up once again in the drama series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.” They will be joined by Coleen Garcia and Jake Cuenca, in a story about two people who are destined to be together no matter what. Another drama series “A Love to Last,” puts together Bea Alonzo and Ian Veneracion, as two people who are given a second chance to fall in love again.

A family drama series called “My Dear Heart” will star Zanjoe Marudo, Bela Padilla and Connie Reyes. It is about a little girl who becomes a ghost that haunts her grandmother, after her grandmother was not able to save her from a heart disease.

Maja Salvador also gets her own series titled “Wildflower” where she is expected to be a “vengeful” yet “sexy” character.

Talent and Game Shows on ABS-CBN

After the success of Pinoy Boyband Superstar last year, the network is bringing back another talent show. “Your Face Sounds Familiar” returns with celebrity kids as contestants this time around. The show’s lineup of judges are big names in the OPM industry: Ogie Alcasid, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

According to the report, the game show franchise “I Can Do That” will be done by the network. The new game show will have celebrities as contestants where they will be asked to perform tasks that they have no experience doing.

Teleseryes on GMA

Banking on the popularity of Eat Bulaga’s loveteam, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, GMA is featuring the pair in the romance teleserye “Destined To Be Yours.” Another romantic teleserye with a fantasy twist is “My Love From The Star” which stars Jennylyn Mercado and newcomer Gil Cuerva.

Young star Barbie Forteza will also play leading lady to four leading men, Ken Chan, Jak Roberto, Addy Raj, and Ivan Dorschner in the romantic comedy series “Meant to Be.”

The network will also remake the movie “Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa” into a drama series, which will star Julie Ann San Jose, LJ Reyes, Benjamin Alves, Martin del Rosario and Jean Garcia. Kris Bernal will be paired off with Rafael Rosell  in the remake of the drama series “Impostora.” Janine Gutierrez will also be paired off with Mikael Daez in the drama series “Legally Blind.”

This year, GMA is adding another fantasy series to its list: “Mulawin vs. Ravena.” The series stars Dennis Trillo and is reported to be a sequel of “Mulawin.”
