Encantadia 2016: Alden Richards First Appearance

Pambansang Bae Alden Richards recently graced the TV screen for the first time as his character Lakan in the GMA telefantasya Encantadia 2016. He appeared in his mortal form in the episode that aired Wednesday, September 21 and not yet donning his costume that would identify as a Mulawin.

The episode featured Alden in a fight scene where his character saved Danaya, played by Sanya Lopez, one of the Sang’gres from attacking criminals. According to PEP.ph, Danaya was not able to find out who helped her, but she was able to catch a Mulawin feather right after Alden disappeared from the scene.

Dream Come True

According to PEP.ph, the actor was beyond excited about his joining the Encantadia 2016 cast. In an earlier interview, Alden mentioned that he was such a fan of the series that first aired in 2005, which he used to watch with his late mom. He called it a childhood dream which has apparently come true for the actor.

It All Started With A Tweet

When rumors of the show’s revival started circulating back in 2012, he tweeted Director Mark Reyes, saying how much he wanted to be part of the show, even just as “one of the soldiers.” Fans were instrumental in tracing his 2012 tweet and were more than happy to recall that moment.

After 1 month, Alden posted a tweet which expressed his excitement and left fans wondering about what his role would be.

Four years later, on August 14, GMA and Encantadia announced that Alden will be joining the cast and not just as a mere soldier but one of the Mulawins, a half-bird, half-human character who helps the cause of the Sang’gres. According to another PEP article, he described his role to have lots of action scenes so he needs to be always fit.

One thing is for sure: after Alden’s first appearance, fans will surely be glued to the tube every night to see when Lakan will make his next appearance.
