1.Judy Ann Santos And Angelica Panganiban’s Comedic Chemistry
Judy Ann Santos surprised everyone in local showbiz when she chose to make a comedy film as her big comeback. The former box office star has been on a hiatus from big screen projects, focusing on her TV hosting career as well as her restaurant business. In Aug. 2017, she announced her comeback with Star Cinema in 2018.
She headlines the movie with Angelica Panganiban, whom she last worked with way back in 2001. Because Angelica has more comedic experience than Judy Ann, owing to Banana Sundae, Judy Ann was very conscious about her acting. However, this did not stop her from making her mark in the movie. The pair’s chemistry as they churn out punchlines and one-liners is a joy to watch.
2. Reviews say that it is Judy Ann and Angelica’s comedic chemistry that makes the film a laugh-out-loud fiesta. However, their prowess as dramatic actresses also brings heart-wrenching moments, without going overboard. This is not drama as we know it, because it is peppered with funny and hilarious moments.
3. Different sides of the story – that is what the film tackles. It is not your usual husband-leaves-wife-another-woman story. The film’s story is based on a topic that is fast becoming a common theme in movies – same-sex relationships. As it turns out, the two spurned wives have to deal with the fact that their husbands were actually in that kind of a relationship.
4. The film also attempts to break stereotypes – it no longer shows good (the wives) vs. evil (the husbands). It also shows the vulnerabilities and faults of both parties. The two Mrs. Reyes, for all their righteous indignations, have their own sins that led to their situation now. The two Mr. Reyes on the other hand are not portrayed as typical philandering husbands, but are shown to be loving and caring in their own ways.
5. If you want to watch a funny and dramatic film that teaches acceptance, love and forgiveness – Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes is worth the watch.
