Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B

“Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B” is an Indie film starring Ryza Cenon, Martin del Rosario, Cholo Barreto and Vangie Labalan. The film is an entry in the Circle Competition section of the QCinema International Film Festival produced by the IdeaFirst Company of Perci Intalan and Jun Lana, written by Jen Chuaunsu. Prime Cruz won Best Director and Vangie Labalan won Best Supporting Actress for the film during the QCinema Film Festival Awards 2016 held at the QCX museum on October 19.

The film is romance and horror combined. It’s about a mysterious woman, Jewel (Ryza Cenon) who meets brokenhearted man, Nico (Martin del Rosario). Jewel starts to develop feelings for Nico, but how could she? She has to save him from herself because of what she is. The movie shows at cinemas from October 15- 22.

Since it’s premiere, people have been talking about the actress who plays the mysterious and beautiful Jewel, Ryza Cenon. In this movie, Ryza revealed that her role included love scenes with two guys, and not just that. (It’s for you to find out)

In an interview with PEP,  the 28-year-old actress said her role was very daring. When asked how daring it was, she said, “Sobra! All out na. All out talaga. First time ko siyang gawin. Siyempre, hindi mawawala ang kaba at takot.”

In an article by Interaksyon Ryza said she believes in the existence of a ‘manananggal’. She said, “They’re the ones who kill chickens for their blood. I have a playful imagination, when I hear something moving on my roof, I could not sleep with the lights off. And the whole thing tends to stick in my mind for days.”
