What has Jolie got to add to her already known name and image? Eating creepy crawlers of course. Flavorful Cambodian Local Cuisine During Jolie’s visit to Cambodia to promote her new film,”First They Killed My Father,” she showed off her cooking skills by demonstrating how to prepare and cook crickets, spiders, and scorpions in a BBC interview in Cambodia. The 41-year old was with her 6 children- Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, twins Knox and Vivienne, 8, and BBC reporter Yalda Hakim when she introduced preparation techniques of the Cambodian local bug cuisines. Her children helped her out with removing the fangs of the tarantulas before putting them on the pan, along with the crickets and scorpions. Jolie shared her knowledge about how these bugs are a good source of nutrients for those affected by war. “When people were being starved, they were able to survive on things like this and they did.” Jolie said in the video. The “Lara Croft” actress also retold how she got into the whole ‘bug-eating’ experience on her first trip to Cambodia. “You start with the crickets. Crickets and a beer, and then you kind of move up to the tarantulas.” Jolie said within the preparations. Jolie served up the sauteed bugs on a platter and her children gladly tried some spider legs and scorpions. Knox, one of the twins, ended up describing them as “dry and flavorless chips.” Knowing how to prepare and cook these bugs isn’t the only thing the Maleficent actress has to thank Cambodia for. Jolie adopted her eldest child, Maddox, in Cambodia on March 2002. In another part of the BBC interview in Cambodia, Jolie talked about her upcoming film and opened up about private matters such as her relationship with her children and her divorce with Brad Pitt.
