Animahenasyon 2017: Celebrating Filipino Creativity And Talent

Like the past Animation Festivals organized by the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI), the Animahenasyon 2017 celebrates spectacular Filipino talent and creativity when it comes to animation. Filipino artists and animators have long fueled international animation studios that produce well-loved and well-known animation shows and films.

The festival highlights a competition of animated works by both amateur and professional animators and screenings of recognized animation films. The festival runs from Nov. 17 to 19 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Animahenasyon 2017: Recognition Of Creativity, Sharing Of Knowledge

With the festival opening its doors to the public, especially those who are not part of the ACPI, it hopes to bridge experienced animators with those who are just starting out. The festival has special sessions where professional animators share their knowledge with the participants.

On Nov. 17, a special session on Filipino women in animation will be held, along with a screening of a special documentary on women animators. In addition to this, multi-awarded Japanese animated drama Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name) will also be shown. Austrian women animators also show their works in Turbulent Times, Familiar Places, which is a compilation of several shorts.

On Nov. 18, a French animated film My Mummy Is In America And She Met Buffalo Bill will be screened. It is based on a graphic novel with the same title. Another French animated film, Aya of Yop City will follow. Both films were recognized in the Cesar Awards of France. Finally, The Girl Without Hands will also be shown. This 2016 film is based on a Brothers Grimm fairy tale.
