Viva Films has just dropped the trailer for “Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story,” a movie featuring the Dingdong Dantes- Anne Curtis tandem. Sid is an insomniac who hires Aya for companionship. Through the long sleepless nights, Aya becomes attached to Sid. In the trailer, Aya is seen telling Sid “I love you” multiple times. But, Sid is preparing to propose to someone else. As Sid claims in the trailer, “Hindi naman lahat ng may I love you, love story na. (Not everything with an I love you is already a love story).” Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited to see this why it’s not a love story between Sid and Aya in “Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story.”

1. Anne – Dingdong Tandem
Anne Curtis and Dingdong Dantes have worked together in a couple of movies in the past but never as partners. They were part of the second batch of T.G.I.S., a show about a group of friends who deal with the different issues of the adolescent life. Their batch then went on to star in the 1999 teen romantic comedy “Honey My Love So Sweet.” It will be interesting to see what kind of chemistry and emotions they bring to life.
2. Director Expectations
“Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story” is produced by the acclaimed Joyce Bernal. Next to her Irene Villamor who holds the title of director for the movie. Villamor is the same director who was behind the movies “Camp Sawi” and “Meet Me In St. Gallen.” Knowing the good reviews of those two movies as reported by ABS-CBN, a lot is expected of Villamor’s next creation. Will it be part of her rising streak or will it be a stain on her career?
3. Plainly Unique Characters
In the one minute trailer, it’s obvious how Sid and Aya stand out. They’re both individuals who completely embrace unique identities. And if that’s not a premise for good conflicts and good plot developments, I don’t know what is. The personalities of Sid and Aya play so well with the ‘not a love story’ concept of the movie. It’s definitely exciting to watch how Sid and Aya’s strong personalities will play out in “Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story.”
4. Eargasmic Soundtrack
The trailer features the song “Di Na Muli” performed by Janine Tenoso. And if there’s a crucial recipe for an excellent romance movie, it’s a soundtrack that strikes the audience as hard as the story itself. If the trailer of “Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story” already has some good tunes, then the movie will probably add a bit more. That’s something in itself to be excited about.
5. Another ‘Not A Love Story’ Story
Dingdong Dantes’ most prominent line in the trailer is “Hindi naman lahat ng may I love you, love story na.” Because right before he says that, Anne Curtis sweetly tells him “I love you.” The big question is “How can it be different from all the ‘Not A Love Story’ Love stories?” The trailer for “Sid and Aya: Not A Love Story” provides little insight on what the ‘Not A Love Story’ statement means for this case. If it’s not a love story, then is it a ghost story where Aya was Sid’s precious one and his insomnia is causing him to hallucinate? Or could it just be another typical love story that’s leading us to believe it isn’t? The possibilities are endless and it makes us yearn for the release date to come a lot sooner.
