WATCH: Anne Curtis Salutes Heroism Of Marawi Troops Touting ‘Battle Of Marawi’ Video

“Hello everyone. Please take time to read,” Anne Curtis writes in an Instagram post where she is found standing beside 1LT Bala Tamayo of the Special Forces 134 Vishnu Company, while holding her GoPro. She recounts how she met and became friends with Tamayo while training for her upcoming role in Erick Matti’s film, “Buy Bust.” Anne mentioned that Bala is a filmmaker. He told the compelling story of heroism in a documentary short film entitled, “Battle of Marawi,” through actual war footages of the Marawi Seige. Some of the footage was taken through Anne’s GoPro which she lent to Tamayo. The said video on the Army Special Forces’ Youtube channel has been shared numerous times, garnering around 1.5 million views, instilling the sense of patriotism and pride among Filipinos today.

When Tamayo and the troops were fighting in Marawi, the two kept in touch making it possible for soldiers to receive care packages to “boost their morale.” In one package, Anne sent her GoPro as Bala requested, for him to document their experiences in the Siege. He promised to return the gadget if he survives the war. But if, in any case, he falls, Bala says, his buddy will return it. To this, Anne said that knew that Bala “would not fall and that he would personally return the GoPro once the war is over.” True enough, as soon as the war ended he was true to his promise. He returned Anne’s GoPro “without a scratch.”

Battle of Marawi: An Epic Documentary of Filipino Soldiery and Heroism

The Special Operations Command (SOCOM) video,“Battle of Marawi,” is written, edited, and directed by 1Lt. Bala Tamayo. It is a “short documentary on the deadliest war the Philippines faced in the history of modern warfare since World War II.” The video was uploaded on November 28, 2017. The narration was done by Atty. Jai Tamayo while those behind the music are the acclaimed musical scorer, Pepe Manikan; Chaitanya Tamayo; and Capt. Antonio Tamayo.

Anne asks everyone to take time and watch the video that shows how “all the soldiers bravely fought for freedom and peace.” She salutes all the troops that fought hard, fell and survived fighting for peace in Marawi. She expresses thanks for their service and sacrifice.

Anne Curtis Prepares for Badass Role in Erik Matti’s upcoming film, “Buy Bust.” ABS-CBN reports that Anne has been learning a Filipino martial art called “Pekiti-Tirsia Kali.” It focuses on using improvised weapons for self-defense. The training she needed paved the way for her to meet 1LT Tamayo and the rest of the Buy Bust team.

In Erik Matti’s upcoming film Anne is a drug enforcement agent who is sent to “snuff out” a drug den. In performing her duties, she is set up and betrayed.  She posted a video on Facebook of the powerful teaser commenting, “YOU become the WEAPON.” The said film is set to be released within the year 2018.

 

Hello everyone. . Please take time to read. . 👉🏼 The gentleman beside me is 1Lt Bala Tamayo of the Special Forces 134 Vishnu company.. I met Bala when we were training and shooting with the Special Forces in Fort Magsaysay for BuyBust. He happened to offer oral rehydration salts during a very hot day in full battle gear and the rest is history. He became friends not only with myself but with everyone part of the BuyBust squad. . Shortly after, we learned that the troops were to go fight the war in Marawi. We somewhat kept in touch – which was great because we knew exactly what the soldiers needed during such a harsh time and sent over care packages to somehow boost their morale. Along with my care package I sent over my @gopro to Bala – you see, he is actually a very good film maker and has done shorts for the Special Forces. His request to tell the story and experience the Marawi Siege from the boots of a soldier could not be left ungranted. His words were – “i’ll return it if I survive this war. If I fall, my buddy will return it. That I promise “ I told him that I knew he would NOT fall and HE would personally return the GoPro once the war is over.. and IT IS OVER.. . He returned it without even scratch.. . So now, I would like to ask all of you to take time to watch the video of the actual war footage he shot with the GoPro I have in my hands in this photo.
