Apple iPhone 8 Specs, Features: Round-up Of Latest Rumors And Theories

As soon as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were released last September, multiple rumors about the iPhone 8 have been going around social media, blogs and forums. And for Apple Analysts, now is the perfect time to go about their predictions and theories about the upcoming iPhone 8 (or iPhone X to some). It is most likely to release in September of 2017.

Apple iPhone 7 Dual-Camera Lens

The dual-camera set-up is now gaining popularity in smartphones today. Apple boasts that “the dual 12-megapixel cameras also enable a new depth-of-field effect, using both cameras on iPhone 7 Plus to capture images, while sophisticated technology including Machine Learning separates the background from the foreground to achieve amazing portraits once possible only with DSLR cameras.”

Apple iPhone 8 Theory: Dual Camera Support

While the iPhone 7 Plus only has the dual-camera capability, analysts think otherwise for the iPhone 8. Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst, says that Apple will now be including the dual camera feature to the new iPhone models. Kuo also says that Apple will be redesigning the photo lens, with support for the dual optical image stabilization included. This will ultimately give the optical image zoom and photo qualities a definitive upgrade.

According to Kuo, these changes come with the need to support and increase the image circle of the telephoto lens, leading to longer calibration time and a complex photo assembly and sensitivity process. But one challenge could also be directly related to a photo’s quality. Kuo says that a redesign of the telephoto lens as an increased image circle will result in a lesser photo quality around the corners. But given Apple’s quality-specific software and hardware production, this can be an unlikely effect.

Apple iPhone 8 Rumors: 3 Next-Gen iPhones, Dual-Lens Camera Setup & Release Dates

Kuo hints that Apple will be producing 3 different flagship iPhones in 2017. One is a 5.1-ing or 5.2-inch OLED screen model, a 5.5-inch variant with LCD display and a 4.7-inch version with LCD display. However, as the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 lacks the dual-lens capability, it will also be likely the same with the 4.7-inch iPhone 8.

It has been a custom for Apple fans to guess and become curious as to how the next iPhone would look like, along with the new features that will come with it. When the iPhone 8 comes out, it will already be the 10th anniversary of the flagship smartphone. With it being an anniversary edition, it’s very likely for Apple to throw in new ideas and features to the new handset. Among the previous theories for the iPhone 8 include the removal of the home button, thinner bezels, an enhanced processor (which always is the case), higher RAM capacity, bigger battery for extended usage and additional color options.

Here are some predictions of upcoming iPhone release dates over the next few years:

  • Mar 2017: iPhone SE 2
  • Sept 2017: iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus
  • Mar 2018: iPhone SE 3
  • Sept 2018: iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (or iPhone X)

As of now, Apple hasn’t revealed any update or details about the iPhone 8, iPhone X or the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s best for Apple consumers to take these rumors and theories lightly, as we never know what the tech mongrel has to offer us in the next iPhone iteration.
