I’ll start by saying I’m more interested in this week’s episode of Arrow than I am The Flash. This week on Arrow Season 5 Episode 7, we follow how Team Arrow deals with a new vigilante in the city. Meanwhile, we finally get a taste of what Dolph Lundgren has to offer the show. Before I proceed, here’s the usual SPOILER ALERT.

Arrow Season 5 Episode 7: Vigilante

The episode opens up with a group of human traffickers bidding over a girl. Everything seems to be going right for them, until the lights shut down. The criminals assume it’s the Green Arrow. We get a glimpse of the attacker’s point of view as he stalks his victims. Bodies start flying as he opens fire. The Vigilante leaves their corpses hanging in a “V” shape for the police to collect.

Meanwhile, Arrow’s flashbacks show us Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) time in Constantin Kovar’s (Dolph Lundgren) custody. Kovar has invited Oliver to a meal. He comments how Oliver has not said anything throughout a week of interrogation and torture, save for the name “Taiana.” His maid then enters the room, and he explains how he had given the woman a job whilst she waited for her missing children – Vlad and Taiana – to return.

He attempts to convince Oliver that truth is a matter of perspective, and that he is being used. He then mentions that he cut a deal with the Bratva.

Quentin Lance And Alcohol

Thea (Willa Holland) continues to help Quentin (Paul blackthorne) cope with his alcoholism, despite his downward spiral. He gives her his letter of resignation, but when Thea shows up at his house, he casually comments that “she’s late.”

Quentin explains to her how he woke up a week before with blood on his hands, and a shuriken in the room. He doesn’t believe his drinking could turn him into Prometheus, however. Thea and Quentin go through the story over and over again. Finally, she decides to take him to rehab, to deal with his drinking once and for all.

Vigilante: Catching A Killer

Team Arrow begins a city-wide hunt for Vigilante and his next target. Oliver watches DA Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) interrogate a bank robber. Chase terrifies the woman with some of the most expressive acting I’ve seen his character display, and she gives out the ringleader’s location. Oliver tells him to hurry up, as Vigilante is unlikely to wait for a warrant to be processed.

A short engagement ensues at a motel, concluding with Vigilante launching an M203 grenade into the bungalow. The Green Arrow saves the ringleader.

Oliver Queen And Susan Williams

OliSan? SuLiver? What are people calling it now? Either way, reporter Susan Williams (Carly Pope) invites Oliver to have a drink. She offers to be a sounding board, and Oliver accepts. He confides to her that being mayor is harder than he expected, and that other people in his position use more extreme measures, but get results. Susan reassures him that he can make the right decisions on his own. Their date is interrupted by the all-too-cliché phone call. Diggle (David Ramsey) suggests they draw out Vigilante by robbing a bank.

Green Arrow Robs A Bank; Artemis Is Evil!?

Vigilante shows up to stop the bank robbery. He seems angered that the Green Arrow cannot stand for his measures, and demands to talk with him. All the while, Vigilante holds Mr. Terrific (Echo Kellum) at gunpoint. Green Arrow and Vigilante brawl, and the latter ends up restrained against a pillar. As Green Arrow prepares to remove Vigilante’s mask, a flashbang device stuns Oliver, and Vigilante escapes.

Side note: since this article is about spoilers, Vigilante is DA Adrian Chase. Of course, if you’ve read the comics, you already know this.

And the episode decides to leave us with another cliffhanger: Artemis meets on a rooftop with none other than Prometheus. What a surprise. Except, not really, considering Artemis’s appearances in comic books.

And just like that, Arrow Season 5 Episode 7 ends. Personally, I enjoyed Vigilante’s debut, but what did you guys think? Let us know.
