Australia, travel, better life

Australia is said to be the happiest place to live in. So if you are thinking about moving to another place to have a better life, don’t think twice, go to ‘the land down under.’

According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) annual Better Life Index, Australia has maintained its spot as the place to, well, have a better life. The criteria in this index inlcludes housing, jobs, education, civic engagement, life satisfaction, work-life balance, income, community, environment, health and safety.

In a CNN report, the following countries are in the OECD’s Top 10:

Australia
Sweden
Norway
Switzerland
Denmark
Canada
United States
New Zealand
Iceland
Finland

Australia is home to 23.1 million and has 6.1 million visitors in a year according to the index. The country ranks top in civic engagement, above average in health, housing, social connections and income. A great combination if you are indeed looking for a better life.

The index further says that in terms of employment, around 72 percent of people aged 15 to 64 have a paid job in Australia. 72 percent! Not only that, 77 percent of adults aged 25-64 have completed upper secondary education. Life expectancy at birth in the country us around 82 years and 95 percent of people believe that there is a strong sense of community and high level of civic participation. 95 percent!

In general, Australians are more satisfied than how it is portrayed in graphs and numbers. The index says Australians gave a 7.3 grade compared to the 6.5 grade that OECD gave. So if you’re looking at building a bright and happy future, put Australia at the top of your list.
