Photo taken via Official FB Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Looking glamorous can require diligence and tenacity– if you know what I mean. With an array of cosmetics lines on what seems to be every corner of Watsons or the Department store, walking, swatching and carefully scrutinizing every pigment of every lipstick can be a pain in the neck. Literally. But here’s a product that has gained both the interest and loyalty of its users: the Avon Matte Lipsticks. Particularly, Avon Ultracolor Matte Lipsticks and Perfectly Matte Lipsticks. While they may not be the craze at the moment, the Avon Ultracolor Matte and Perfectly Matte Lipsticks both stand a chance against its rivals like Maybelline, Revlon, etc. Now if you’re wondering what the difference is between the Avon Ultracolor Matte and Avon Perfectly Matte lipsticks, it’s that latter is somewhat a reboot of the former. It’s like an Ultracolor Matte 2.0 version. Not to mention that the Avon Ultracolor Matte Lipsticks are actually the first matte lipstick line of Avon. Avon Ultracolor Matte, Avon Perfectly Matte Lipsticks: Are They Matte Enough? With the same price of PHP 379.00, the Avon Ultracolor Matte and Perfectly Matte lipsticks barely have differences. Except that the ‘original’ only has six red shades, and the other: 20 of different varieties. The Avon Matte Lipsticks have gotten quite a lot of praise, especially for their strong pigments. Every swatch is a rich, pure color that one can’t help but fall in love with. Another pro is that they boast a ‘non-dry, moisturizing feel’ while sporting a matte look. And true to their words, the product doesn’t feel like the Sinai desert when you leave it on too long. Or when you retouch sometime in the day. Other than that, I do believe in Avon Matte Lipsticks’ no caking, no cracking and no patching. As mentioned, their moisturizing effect ensures that it glides smoothly and as evenly as possible on the lips. And with a total of 20 shades plus six that include shades from nude, to lilac to wine red, there is hardly a complaint about the product. It even lasts up to 6 hours if you’re careful. Although this ‘moisturizing effect’ does bring with it other consequences– like sheen. Unfortunately for the Avon Ultracolor Matte, I can’t say it’s matte. As much as I want to ignore the slight shine on my lips, it really is there. For the Avon Perfectly Matte, sure it’s improved considerably, but for some shades like those in coral and red, there’s a hint of gloss. Other than that, some of the Avon Matte Lipsticks are very hard to apply. And when I say some– I mean some. It’s as if there isn’t consistency with the formula that was used. It feels like it to me, at least. For example, the Perfectly Nude lipstick. It doesn’t feel as smooth as the other, more red-colored lipsticks. Finally, the verdict: Avon Matte Lipsticks like the Ultracolor Matte and Perfectly Matte are definitely contenders against other lipstick products like Maybelline and the like. It just gives a different effect– and that isn’t a bad thing. It all boils down to preference. If you’re the gal who would rather keep the shine off your lips, then go for it. But if you’d rather have a feeling of a bit of moist to keep it from drying, then no problemo. I would highly recommend this for people who feel that they have dry lips and would want to keep it moisturized throughout the day. It lasts long and it’s fabulous!
