The third run of this artisanal fair is from June 15 to 20, 2021 at the Berkeley School, C.M. Recto Street, Baguio City. Whether you are doing your early Christmas shopping or buying gifts for yourself, this year’s line-up of artisans, crafters, and creative entrepreneurs will delight your senses with high-quality, one-of-a-kind products that are lovingly handmade. Celebrating Creativity and Innovation Mandeko Kito is a phrase borrowed from the Ibalois, which is an invitation or a call to sell. The Baguio Arts and Crafts Collective, Inc. or BACCI initiated this unique event as a platform for artisans and crafters to do exactly that: showcase and sell their premium handmade creations to the public. What sets Mandeko Kito apart is the premium it puts on new and innovative crafts, that integrates elements of local, indigenous culture. Artisans and crafters present their best products that reflect these, thus the range of products goes beyond the usual souvenir fare. Mandeko Kito 3 features 32 artisans, crafters and creative entrepreneurs from Baguio, Benguet, Sagada, Mt. Province and Pangasinan. Twenty-two (22) participants will feature a wide variety of items, from accessories, bags, bath products, basket weaves, home decor and furniture, handwoven items, local textiles, shirts, pottery, and many more. Ten (10) participants on the other hand will showcase local food items and creations. For a preview of the products and the artisans, check out the BACCI Facebook page. Value Local, Support Local BACCI launched Mandeko Kito as its response to help local artisans and creatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first run was done in partnership with the University of the Philippines Baguio, at the UP Oblation grounds, from June 15 to July 28, 2020, during the weekends. The second Mandeko Kito happened as part of the Ibagiw 2020 Creative City Festival in November 2020. Both fairs directly benefitted participating artisans and entrepreneurs and provided them the opportunity to earn especially during the pandemic. Mandeko Kito 3 once again hopes to drum up enough exposure, support, and sales for participating artisans and crafters. Come and show your support for high-quality, well-made handicrafts and gift items. The fair is open to the public, June 15 to 20, from 10am to 4pm, at Berkeley School, C.M. Recto Street, Baguio City.
