Just last week, the temperature was between 13.2 and 11.5 degrees. This temperature is considered warm in Baguio City so the sudden drop of temperature during the weekend was a bit of a surprise for many causing citizens to catch colds and cough on the first month of the year.

According to the Inquirer, weather specialist Danny Galati says the temperature reading between December 2016 to January 2017 was between 13 and 14 degrees. This is fairly warm considering the temperature on the same months in 2015 was recorded at 10.4 degrees.

On the same month last year, CNN Philippines reported temperatures in Baguio City hitting 11.5 degrees, then 10.8 degrees and the coldest temperature at 9.5 degrees recorded at the Mount Sto. Tomas where the PAGASA radar station is located. However, in Baguio history, the lowest temperature was recorded on January 18, 1961 when the temperature dropped to 6.3 degrees Celsius.

According to PAGASA, the minimum temperature in the Summer Capital of the Philippines is expected to range between 12 to 13 degrees Celsius. The recorded temperature of 11.5 degrees Celsius in Benguet is the coldest day so far this year.
