Share on Facebook Share on Twitter The first ever food truck park in Baguio City will open on January 27, Friday. Called the Calle Uno Food Hub, it features a unique set-up in outdoor dining because these are not your ordinary food trucks. The food trucks are actually old Volkswagen beetles that have been refitted and repurposed. The food hub is located in the quadrangle of Calle Uno Coworking Space, on Escoda Street (formerly First Road), Quezon Hill. Pilipinas Popcorn shares what is in store for diners when the Calle Uno Food Hub opens on January 27 at 8:00 a.m. Good Eats At Calle Uno Food Hub – A Preview According to Calle Uno Managing Director Ace Estrada, the food hub may very well be the first food truck park that makes use of Volkswagen beetles and Kombis in the Philippines and possibly even in Asia. Aside from serving up good food, the trucks will also make for gorgeous and interesting Instagrammable selfies and groufies. The food hub will have six food outlets, each serving their own brand of delectable treats. There is newcomer Munchiez, which will be housed in the blue and white VW food truck and will serve mini-steaks. Two of Baguio’s up and coming restaurants will also be getting a food truck each. One of them is BrrGrr which has its first branch in Ililikha and is known is serving a burger big enough to satisfy the hunger of four people! Don’t worry, they also serve single size burgers. The other restaurant is CheatDay Resto, which has its original branch located in Leonard Wood Road, near 45 Hotel. Their menu boasts of comfort food, the kind that makes you forget your diet. There are three other newcomers in the food scene. Binge Beetle is run by the Bacungan family and this food truck will serve rice meals, sandwiches and desserts. Pendong is another, and this one features a grill that is strategically placed under the beetle’s hood. Road Grille will offer cured and grilled meats. Lastly, Live Long will offer up healthy juices and drinks to diners. More Than Just A Food Truck Park Like his coworking space Calle Uno, Estrada envisions the food hub to be more than what it was intended to be. He also wants to see it grow as a community, starting with the food business owners who are part of the food hub, and eventually bringing in the diners who want a new and unique dining experience in Baguio City. They have started building this community with the concessionaires, whom they openly collaborate with when it comes to what menu to offer. The food hub also plans to organize events that will entice people to come and dine at any or all of the food outlets. Estrada also said that the concessionaires can also offer food catering services to special events in and around the city. Facebook Comments
