Actor Rustom Padilla is officially a woman as of Thursday, November 17. Rustom Padilla’s whole identity has been changed to Binibini Gandanghari and will now be known as a female.
According to ABS-CBN, the name and gender change documents were approved by a Los Angeles court. ‘She’ filed for these papers in August and posted on Instagram a photo of the petition for change of name.
Rustom Padilla Officially BB Gandanghari
In Gandanghari’s recent post, ‘she’ showed a photo of the Orange County Courthouse with the the caption, “This is it! And I though this day would never come. And I thank my God and my Lord for making these things happen. Everything makes sense now…and to this great country the United States of America for providing this basic human right… Thank you!!!.” She added the hashtag #officiallyBBlegallyGandanghari.
Robin Padilla Accepted Rustom As BB Gandanghari
Rustom, sibling of actor Robin Padilla, first came out during the TV show “Pinoy Big Brother” in 2006. Rustom told housemate Keanna Reeves that he is gay. He first used BB Gandanghari during an interview with “Tapatan ni Tunying” in 2014. He stressed that he is not gay but a transgender.
In 2012, InterAksyon reported that Robin Padilla made a statement during an interview with ABS-CBN saying, “Mayroon tayong kalayaan sa pag-iisip at opinyon. Hanggang hindi tayo nagkakasakitan nang pisikal, eh ayos lang lahat iyan. Lahat iyan ay katanggap-tanggap.” (We all have our own opinion. Until we haven’t hurt each other physically, it’s okay. Everything is acceptable.)
According to ABS-CBN, in September, Robin reacted to Rustom’s name and gender change saying, “Ako lang, hangga’t wala kang sinasaktan na kapwa mo, okay sa akin lahat iyan. Sa palagay ko naman, masaya lahat ng nasa paligid ni utol, eh ‘di sige.” (For me, as long as no one gets hurt in the process, then it’s fine. I think everyone around my brother is happy, so okay.)
What most people didn’t know about Rustom Padilla a.k.a BB Gandanghari is that she holds a B.A. In Economics from Saint Luois University, Baguio City. He studies filmmaking at UCLA in 2010.
