BigBang’s T.O.P Reads Statement Of Apology In First Hearing

Choi Seung-hyun a.k.a Bigbang’s T.O.P appeared at his first hearing on Thursday, June 29, at the Seoul Central District Court for his marijuana case. The Korean rapper and singer read his statement or rather his apology in front of the press.

T.O.P, the eldest member of South Korean band BigBang has recently taken much attention for his recent case of marijuana use. He was suspended from military service and days after, he was in critical condition due to a drug overdose. The singer showed improvement and is now in psychiatric treatment. On Thursday, Choi Seung-hyun was expected to either make an official confession or deny these allegations.

T.O.P attends first court hearing, ‘I was foolish’

A report by the Korea Herald confirms T.O.P’s attendance on the first day of his trial. The singer read his statement of apology in front of the press in a black suit. Choi Seung was being charged with using marijuana on four occasions.

Asked if he denies the use of the illegal drug, he said, “I am in the middle of a trial right now, so it’s difficult to answer.” He added that all will be revealed after the trial. The report further says prosecutors are seeking suspension and a 10-month jail sentence for the singer.

In T.O.P’s statement, he opened with “I was foolish.” He mostly expressed how guilty he was for allowing his “disorderly state of mind to lead to an impulsive wrongdoing and an irrevocable mistake.”

He narrated that in the past, he wanted to get himself away from depression and severe anxiety disorder. T.O.P’s statement ended with, “I disappointed many people,” and an apology to his mother.

Here is T.O.P’s full statement, “I was foolish. In the past, I wanted to escape from myself in the dark due to depression and severe anxiety disorder. My disorderly state of mind led to impulsive wrongdoing and an irrevocable mistake, and I disappointed many people.”
