Even Former President Obama Knows Kpop, Welcome Back Taeyang
It looks like even the former President of the United States knows his way around the world of K-pop. Barack Obama includes in one of his speeches the popular K-pop group “SHINee.” And this isn’t in just any ordinary speech, Obama mentions the group in the 8th Asian Leadership Conference as reported by Al lKPop. Ultimately, the former president made sense as the conference was in Seoul, Korea, and tackles U.S.- South Korea relationships.
“Famous movies are being filmed in Korea. Young people in the US learn Korean so they can understand SHINee. Likewise, I heard SHINee likes USA’s In-N-Out hamburgers.” Obama says in his speech.
Welcome Back, Taeyang
In other news, Taeyang is back in the spotlight as the singer-songwriter’s hiatus is over. YG Entertainment, Taeyang’s agency, confirms the release of an upcoming album with the band’s lead vocalist.
Unfortunately, Taeyang’s label has not revealed much but the star has a lead track in mind. Dates are set for the shoot of the music video. There’s still no clue as to the album’s release date. Even the content of the music video and song are all a question mark. Although, Taeyang’s upcoming album release will be the first since 2014.
The release of Taeyang’s first solo album, “Solar,” was in 2010. His second solo album was “Rise” in 2014. “The music video will show quite a different side of Taeyang compared to what he has shown the public so far,” an agency official says according to the KpopHerald.
