Presently, T.O.P, whose real name is Choi Seung-Hyun, is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment and his doctor says he is in critical condition. According to Yonhap, BigBang’s agency YG Entertainment says that the rapper-songwriter was discovered unconscious. Just days before his supposed drug overdose, T.O.P already made a hand written apology for his drug use and was also indicted without detention on charges of smoking marijuana. Because of this, is military service was put on hold. A report by GMA says one of T.O.P’s doctor says, “Choi’s condition is very bad.” T.O.P’s reason for overdose, Mother unhappy with police reports In Yonhap’s report along with police citings, T.O.P’s overdose appears to be from taking too much tranquilizers. YG Entertainment explains that Choi usually takes the tranquilizers for medicinal use but this time took more than usual. The incident happens a day after the singer was in the spotlight for charges of smoking marijuana. Prosecutors suspect him to have smoked the illegal substance in his home four times together with an aspiring singer. After coming out positive for the drugs, Choi issues a letter of apology. T.O.P’s Mother Unhappy With Police Reports Following YG Entertainment’s first statement of Choi being unconscious, police reported that the singer’s situation as “not critical”. Additionally, police described him to be in a “state of sleep” when he was taken to the hospital. Choi’s mother did not take to liking these statements, calling the police releases “misreports”. “The condition of my son is quite bad. It’s been misreported after (the police) announced that my boy, who is almost dying, was not fully awake from tranquilizers,” she says according to Yonhap. A YG Entertainment source says that they’re still waiting to see if the singer has regained consciousness. Twitterverse React On T.O.P’s Situation The whole situation has fans worrying for the rapper and is even taking sides. Some fans take to Choi’s mother’s side, sharing the anger she’s experiencing. Tweets about having the police held accountable for their reports are being posted. These are alongside tweets acknowledging the doctor’s presscon, and how fans are relieved the singer is being taken care of.
