BTS is not just taking over the Billboard Music Awards. The Korean pop group is also taking over TIME Magazine making it as one of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet in 2017. BTS is also set to perform at Seo Taiji’s 25th-anniversary concert in Seoul on September 2.
BTS a.k.a the Bangtan Boys is a seven-member group from Seoul formed in 2013. They made history winning at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards in May as the first K-pop group to receive a trophy. The group won the Top Social Artist Award leaving behind artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Selena Gomez. The group has millions of followers on social media and were the most retweeted artist in 2016. The K-pop group recently celebrated their fourth year anniversary. It is indeed a good year for BTS members Rap Monster, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Jung Kook.
BTS In Time 2017, Set to sing alongside legendary singer Seo Taiji
TIME Magazine has released its third annual roundup of the most influential people on the internet and BTS comes seventh on the list. Contenders on the list are measured by their global impacts on social media and their ability to drive new. Other Asians also made it on the list. These names include actress Yao Chen, and Vietnamese-Chinese blogger based in Los Angeles Cassey Ho. Other names on the list include supermodel Chrissy Teigen, renowned writer J.K. Rowling, President Donald Trump, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Chance the Rapper and more.
Fans of the group who call themselves BTS Army are a big part of why this K-pop group became very successful. In 2016, they brought the album Wings to No. 26 on the Billboard 200 and became the highest debut for a K-Pop album. During the Billboard Music Awards in May, Rap Monster made sure their fans were properly credited. He said, “This award belongs to [everybody] around the world who shines the love and light on us.” According to TIME, BTS spent 27 consecutive weeks on Billboard’s “Social 50” chart.
Meanwhile, Hello KPop reports that BTS will be joining legendary singer Seo Taiji during his 25th Anniversary concert MOOV: Soundtrack vol. 2 SeoTaiji 25 in Seoul on September 2. Seo Taiji used to be in a group called Seo Taiji and the Boys who disbanded in 1992. The report says Seo will be performing his earliest songs as performed back in the 1990s with BTS.
