To the excitement of fans worldwide, BTS has confirmed their performance in the upcoming Billboard Music Awards. The world-renowned K-pop group has once again been nominated for the Top Social Artist Award. On top of that, BTS also plans to debut their newest single when they take the stage at the awards night.

BTS confirmed the news through the group’s Twitter account on April 24. The boys alerted their fans to look out for their first ever performance at the BBMAs. After which, they thanked their fans for allowing them to perform at this prestigious awards night. The boys also shared their excitement for the news on their official Instagram account. Once again, BTS will be making history by being the first K-pop act to perform at the BBMAs.

Aside from that, however, BTS has also reached another milestone in their career. Their music video “DNA” is now the most viewed K-pop video on YouTube. It has now reached the 350 million mark surpassing Big Bang’s “Fantastic Baby” which is at 348 million.

Furthermore, in addition to all the record-breaking that BTS is doing, the group is set to release a new album on May 18. Their upcoming album “Love Yourself: Tear” is a sequel to their album “Love Yourself: Her” which was released last year.

BTS Continues To Challenge K-pop History

BTS is on a record-breaking streak. On last years BBMAs, BTS was the first K-pop act to win the Top Social Artist Award. They went against Western A-listers such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes.

After that, the group once again broke another record as the first K-pop group to perform in the American Music Awards. Since then, American TV shows gobbled up the group and further skyrocketed their fame worldwide. As the group was busy catering their new audience, their songs have been steadily and swiftly on the rise on the Billboard charts.

BTS’ “Mic Drop” remix with Steve Aoki and Desiigner was their first song to hit the top 40 of the Hot 100. And in February, the Recording Industry Association of America labeled both hits “Mic Drop” and “DNA” certified gold. BTS is the first Korean group and the second Korean act after Psy to achieve such status. Their album “Love Yourself: Her” also took the distinction of reaching the highest record set by a K-pop group on the Billboard 200 where it took the no. 7 spot.

This year, BTS is contending for the Top Social Artist Award with Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Shawn Mendes. Other artists performing on the BBMAs are Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello and also Shawn Mendes. The BBMAs will be held on May 20 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
