BTS Makes It To Guinness World Records 2018 Edition

BTS made it to the list of Guinness World Records 2018 for the world’s most Twitter engagements for a music group. The South Korean boy group gave a ‘stellar performance’ during the American Music Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on Nov 19.

The Bangtan Boys have indeed come a long way. This seven-member group based in South Korea have been nominated for international awards, became part of TIME’s 25 Most Influential People in 2017, and won Top Social Artist Award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. They’ve been in the US lately and have appeared in shows like the Jimmy Kimmel Live and the Late Late Show with James Corden. It was in these times that Jimmy called BTS “the most popular band in the world” while James Corden called the “the biggest band in the world.” This created quite a stir on social media comparing them to international band One Direction. Apparently, so-called fans posted a tweet of Demi hating on the boy group which turned out to be a hoax.

BTS is indeed taking social media by storm. The hashtag #BTSxAMAs is top trending because of their performance during the recent AMAs. Many took notice of the group’s performance of their hit song DNA.

On Twitter, the AMAs called their performance “perfect.” Guinness World Records, on the other hand, called it a “stellar performance” and revealed that the group is now included in their 2018 list for having the world’s most Twitter engagements for a music group with the hashtag mentioned above. As of writing, the number of tweets has reached 6 million.
