A lot of people believe that all it takes to become famous is a pretty face. But a lot your favorite celebrities prove to be more than just another beauty plastered on a billboard. They are not only actors or singers, they also have degrees on their walls. Some of them were top of their class. These celebrities like Jodie Sta. Maria show you can achieve many things in life with hard work, dedication, and a good education. Because being famous doesn’t mean you have to cross off your academics.

Jodi Sta Maria is a famous face who recently acquired a degree in Psychology.  Others like Georgina Wilson, Agot Isidro, Benjamin Alves, and Atom Araullo have also succeeded both on and off screen. Most of them were top of their class and thrived even in their showbiz careers.

Jodi Sta. Maria

The actress got the highest grade point average among psychology major students in Southville International School and Colleges.  She had a GPA of 3.670 and ranked 7th in the whole school. Jodi shared her achievement on Instagram. She also expressed her interest in becoming a guidance counselor after her studies.

Georgina Wilson

When you think about Georgina the first thing you think about is her astonishing beauty. Georgina was admitted to the Economics Honor program of Ateneo de Manila University. She also double-majored in Commerce Accounting and Finance at the University of Sydney.  Aside from being the host of “Asia’s Next Top Model,” she is also the Marketing Director of Sunnies Studios. Her two degrees come in handy because this model is also a marketing genius. According to Entrepreneur Philippines, Georgina was one of the people responsible for the Sunnie Studios business success and popularity. She helped develop a brand and marketing strategy that caught the attention of the Millennial market.

Agot Isidoro

If you were moved by Agot Isidoro’s performance in Cinema One Originals’ “Changing Partners, then prepared to be even more impressed by the beautiful actress. She was Magna Cum Laude in Fashion Buying and Merchandise from New York’s City’s Fashion Institute of Technology. But that’s not the only degree she’s holding. The actress has a degree in Interior Design from the University of the Philippines and a degree in Communication from Ateneo de Manila University.

Benjamin Alves

A lot of us take a while in college, some graduate earlier or later than others. In Benjamin Alves’ case, he graduated Suma Cum Laude in just two years. The actor and model graduated with a Bachelor Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Guam. Behind his good looks, he’s a bookworm and a diligent student. In an interview with GMA, Benjamin said he was a nerd and would often ask professors for a reading list to be two books ahead of his colleagues.

Atom Araullo

The former ABS-CBN news reporter graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics. It’s a surprise that the journalist chose science as his chosen field but Atom told ABS-CBN he applied his degree in Physics in journalism. It involves scientific analysis, critical thinking, providing evidence and arriving at a logical conclusion. These factors are not only applied in the field of science but also in creating a good story.
