Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Hong Kong resident and actor Chow Yun Fat made the news recently, not because of his latest movie, but because of a good deed. According to reports, the actor was seen by fellow Hong Kong residents as he was helping clear the road of a fallen tree due to Typhoon Hato. Asia One reports that a local resident spotted the actor as he was helping to clear the debris along Waterloo Road in Kowloon. The resident said he approached Chow Yun Fat, took a selfie with him, which ended up in Instagram. Check the photo via Asia One report here. Chow Yun Fat Does His Part For Other People’s Safety A local news outlet, Apple Daily, spoke to the actor about the incident. The actor mentioned that he was on his way home when he saw the obstruction. He voluntarily got out of his car and started picking up the fallen branches of the trees in order for other people who were also on the road to pass by and get home safely. In the Instagram post of the unidentified resident, he affectionately called the actor Brother Fat, which is a known nickname given to him by Hong Kong’s Cantonese speakers. The post, however, has been deleted. According to Asia One, the actor who has been a longtime resident of Hong Kong is currently home after finishing production for another movie, Project Gutenberg, in Canada. The actor was last seen in Cold War 2. Typhoon Hato Leaves Wake of Destruction In HK Typhoon Hato wreaked havoc in one of Asia’s financial centers, as one of the strongest typhoons that has passed since 2012. The Category 10 storm resulted in trading stoppage, flight cancellations, business closures as well as flooding in streets near the coastal areas. According to Reuters, three casualties were reported in Macau, and around 34 people were injured in Hong Kong.
