Baguio, Christmas 2017

Christmas is magical when shared with the people who matter the most. Beyond the Christmas trees, gifts, to-do and to-buy lists, at the end of the day, what’s important is that we’re surrounded by those who make us feel that certain sense of home. So, once you’ve gotten all of them to meet up this holiday season, the next thing to do is take a trip to Baguio to enjoy the much-needed Christmas feels.

It is but fitting for the City of Pines to also be called the Christmas capital of the country. Not just because of its cool climate which is made lovelier by the scent of the pine breeze, but all the more because of how welcoming the people are. The mountain city has a way of allowing your brood to keep to yourselves – good ‘ole leisurely privacy that is stress-free (given that you know where to go, that is). There is so much to see and do in Baguio for Christmas. Here are tried and true recommendations for your special someone, your family, and of course, your barkada or friends from work.

Best Things to Do in Baguio this Christmas

1. Bring the family to an art excursion at Tam-Awan Village and the Ben Cab Museum. All right, first things first – La Familia. Aside from Mines View, Wright Park and all the other famed tourist spots in the City, there is more to Baguio than we may already know. Take art, for instance, not many realize just how alive the art scene is in the city. (Count music in, of course.) For a holiday well spent with the family that allows you to get the best of Baguio, we recommend a visit to Tam-Awan Village and the Ben Cab Museum.

2. Go on leisurely nature strolls under Baguio’s blue sky with your significant other. Baguio will always be a breath of fresh air for those intimate conversations whether it be an early morning jog before having breakfast or simply going for a walk on the greens just when the sun is about to set. For moments like these, a walk along the golf course of Camp John Hay and the Philippine Military Academy are best.

3. Enjoy the best of Baguio by going cafe hopping with your awesome friends. The Urban Dictionary best describes this as “coffee hopping.” It’s the time when anyone decides to buy a cup of coffee and a pastry, spends some time in the coffee house and then moves on to another coffee shop just for the fun of it. Well, friends, that is exactly what you and your barkada should do when in Baguio. Some of the must-try Instagrammable cafes in the city are Cafe Yagam, Cafe de Arko, Cafe by the Ruins Dua, Sala, Recess, Cafe Adriana, Half Cup Bakeshop, Vanilla Cafe, and Studio Coffee.

4. Make the people in your life feel extra special by making a reservation at the best dining destinations in Baguio. Everyone is a foodie but finding a place that serves honest and great food is quite a challenge. In Baguio, there are so many places to eat but if you’re talking about great customer service like that of a butler’s, Foggy Mountain Cookhouse, Mario’s and Rose Bowl are some of the best picks. The best thing about this is each of these places is an interpretation of what Baguio ought to always feel like – homey, relaxed and important.

5.  Finally, to get the best of the Christmas spirit, visit the enchanting Christmas Village at Baguio Country Club and the festive Holiday Light Show at The Manor at Camp John Hay.

So, to make Christmas as dreamy and unforgettable as it is meant to be, be sure to visit Baguio City. You may just want to make it your second home, too.
