Christmas, the most festive of holidays, is just around the corner. For most Filipinos, it is the time for family, for giving and for reconnecting with one another. And these days, for most Filipinos, it also means making sure one has enough resources to make the celebration memorable. Even if you are on a tight budget, you and your family can still enjoy some holiday bonding moments. Choose from any of these light and sound shows and much more which are guaranteed to light up your Christmas.

Christmas 2017 Light Shows, Manila, Baguio and More

1. Festival of Lights, Ayala Triangle, Makati City

The Ayala Triangle Garden located on Ayala Avenue corner Paseo De Roxas plays host once again to the Festival of Lights. This year, the spectacular light show is choreographed with 3 OPM Christmas songs, each offering a different kind of holiday mood. Opening on Nov. 9, it will run until January 7, 2018. Visitors can catch the light and sound show for free every 30 minutes starting at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The rest of Makati’s main roads have also been decorated with LED lights, making it a sight to behold when the sun goes down.

2. Yuletide Rhythms Park Music Series and more, Trinoma, Quezon City

In Quezon City, you and your family will be treated to world-class musical acts at the Yuletide Rhythms Park Music series at Trinoma. Every year, world-class Filipino talent such as award-winning choirs and choral groups get to sing your favorite Christmas songs at the Level 4 Garden area, just outside the Cinema Lobby. This will be followed by a fireworks show. The mini-concerts are happening on December 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and are free to the public.

Aside from the free concerts, the mall also offers a Holiday Arctic Wonderland Augmented Reality Experience at the cinema lobby. This however requires a purchase requirement. Click here for details on how to avail of tickets.

3. Policarpio Street, Mandaluyong City

This part of Mandaluyong City comes alive during the season. Almost all houses participate in the spectacle yearly, as each of them decorate their facades with twinkling and sparkling LED lights.  Many visitors have been flocking to Policarpio Street since 1995, which becomes such a joy to watch when the houses light up at 6 or 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.

4. University of the Philippines Lantern Parade, Diliman, Quezon City

In 2017, the traditional Lantern Parade at the University of the Philippines in Diliman is slated on December 15, Friday. Lanterns made by each college, usually following a certain theme, will parade around the academic oval for everyone to see. The parade usually starts right before sunset and the most awaited lanterns are those made by the College of Fine Arts. All the other colleges compete with each other for the best lantern of the year.

Christmas Light Shows And More In Laguna And Baguio 

1. Magical Field of Lights, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna

One of Ayala’s prime developments in the south, Nuvali, lights up an open field near the area’s commercial complex for the 2nd year. Called the Magical Field of Lights, it is made up of LED lights shaped like dandelion flowers, Christmas trees, and a 50-meter tunnel. During the show, the lights dance to OPM Christmas classics such as ‘Kumukutikutitap’ and ‘Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit,’ as well as ‘Joy To The World.’ It runs from now until January 7, 2018, every day from 6 to 10 p.m.

2. Holiday Light Show, The Manor, Camp John Hay, Baguio

What could be more perfect than watching sparkling lights while the scent of pine trees waft through the cold winter-like air? Sipping a hot cup of coffee or choco will surely complete the experience. You can only do this in Baguio, at the Holiday Light Show at the Manor in Camp John Hay. The show is not limited to hotel guests, as they also welcome walk-in customers. From now until Dec. 14, the light show happens at 5:45 p.m. From Dec. 15 to Jan. 2, 2018, there will be three runs per night: 5:45, 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. There is also a Santa’s Village with activities for the kids. There is an admission fee of P 120.00 per person.

3. Baguio Country Club Christmas Village, Baguio City

Vacationers in Baguio City during the holiday season will likely have this destination on their list. This year, the theme for the Christmas Village is Christmas Galaxy. As usual, a Nativity Play, a dancing light show, and live performance will be part of the show, as well as the much awaited snowfall. Admission fees for adults is P120, while children between 4 to 12 years old only pay P 50. Children under 3 come in free of charge. Please take note that they have strict rules about wearing flip-flops because the snow is actually made of soap which may become slippery.
