On July 1, Liza Soberano graced the second day of the Toy Convention 2017 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, leading the ribbon cutting ceremony. Her presence as the star of the upcoming 2018 movie, Darna, has been the highlight of the said convention delighting comic and toy fans everywhere.
The kick-off program was star-studded with other famous actors (both TV and film), voice actors and artists. These include Pirate of the Carribean’s Gibbs actor, Kevin McNally; Stefan Kapicic (Colossus of Deadpool); Supernatural’s Tessa played by Lindsey McKeon; Charlie Bewley (Demetriv of Twilight); and Suicide Squad’s Katana, Karen Fukuhara.

Seeing how cosplayers and comic fans keep the comic book spirit alive makes Liza feel “really happy.” She also thinks it is “great that people are still enthusiastic them.” She tells ABS-CBN that she did not expect that such events could be so much fun. Right after the ribbon-cutting ceremony she made her way to the Mars Ravelo Superheroes booth where various memorabilia of the legendary novelist were put on display. She was also ecstatic to meet Rex Ravelo, the seventh son of Mars. Liza hopes to pass on the legacy that the Ravelo family has begun through her portrayal as Darna.
Liza is excited to slip into the Darna costume and start shooting. When Liza saw the Darna merchandise, she felt all the more psyched to begin shooting. She looks forward to connecting with Darna fans everywhere who are waiting for that big reveal – the Darna costume included. Her workout program, which includes boxing, has been nothing but rigorous.
