Diether Ocampo, Randy Santiago

Diether Ocampo of ABS-CBN and Randy Santiago of GMA 7 might just be switching stations. Diether is set to appear on Magpakailanman on the Kapuso Network. Randy, on the other hand, is slated to be a cast member of the newest fantaserye La Luna Sangre on the Kapamilya Network. So are they really switching boats? Here’s what we know.

Diether was made popular for his role in the TV show “Gimik” in 1996. He has been with ABS-CBN until 2013, went on hiatus for about a year, then did a series with TV5 in 2016. Randy, on the other hand, first worked with GMA in 1986, switched to ABS-CBN in 1993, and has been going back and forth since then. He is currently, or was, the director of the show “Wowowin” on GMA 7.

Diether Ocampo on GMA 7, Randy Santiago On ABS-CBN

On June 13, the official Twitter account of “Magpakailanman” posted a photo with Diether Ocampo on it. The caption says he would be on a special episode for Father’s Day on its Saturday episode. The highlight was it was Deither’s first appearance on the Kapuso Network. The special episode hosted by Mel Tiangco airs on GMA 7 on Saturday, June 17.

Although the 43-year-old actor is confirmed to appear on the GMA show, there is no confirmation if Diether is indeed switching stations. Diether’s side hasn’t given any official statement as well. Switching or not, it is good to see Diether on screen again. His last project was in February 2016 with Claudine Barretto in “Bakit Manipis And Ulap” which aired on TV5.

Meanwhile, Randy Santiago is confirmed to be a cast on ABS-CBN’s new series La Luna Sangre. He will be joining Richard Gutierrez who recently transferred from GMA 7 to ABS-CBN as well. A report by PEP confirms that Randy has indeed left GMA 7 to be part of ABS-CBN’s show. He reassured fans that he did have a graceful exit at “Wowowin” and spoke to Willie Revillame to ask for his blessing. So how did it happen?

The report said Randy received a call asking if he could be in a soap. He was surprised and a bit shocked by the invite. Randy asked the caller to make sure if they really wanted him on board since he knew the series is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. He knows for sure that it was a serious role and he knows himself to be a comedian and even said “puro kalokohan lang.” He tells PEP that even if he was a director, he would surely play the role of just an actor and submit to the director. He added it was a great feeling to be directed by Cathy.

Randy said he was flattered to be part of the series and said he would be giving 100 percent. Randy will be acting alongside Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. He will be playing the role of Dok Sito, a father figure to Daniel’s character.
