‘Cars 3 Lightning Strikes’ Extended Trailer, Release Date And More

Lighting McQueen on Cars 3

The extended trailer for the third installment of Disney Pixar’s “Cars” franchise was released on January 9. The new franchise stars Owen Wilson, whos voice brings life to Lightning McQueen even for the past “Cars” franchise, Cristela Alonzo as Cruz Ramirez, McQueen’s trainer and racing technician and Armie Hammer as Jackson Storm as McQueen’s new racing rival.

Since its posting, the trailer has had around 3M views  on YouTube, almost 11,000 likes, 5,000 shares and 15M views on Facebook. Truly, fans couldn’t wait for the return of Lightning McQueen.

On November 21, Disney Pixar released a teaser trailer and eight days later Disney released a domestic and international posters. It showed a hot steaming race with Lightning Mcqueen in the lead but then encounters a bit of a problem with his engine. After around two seconds of silence, it shows McQueen in flames tumbling over and crashing on the race track. The teaser trailer ended with the words, “From this moment everything will change.” This left fans hanging and more expectant of what happens next.

‘Cars 3 Lightning Strikes’ Trailer, Release Date And More

Aside from Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), characters like Mater (Daniel Lawrence Whitney, Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt), Ramone (Cheech Marin), Sheriff (Michael Wallis) and Sarge (Paul Dooely) are still part of the new “Cars” franchise so its not far away from home.

“Cars 3 Lightning Strikes” extended trailer continues where it left off. After the crash, the words, “You will never be the racer you once were, accept it.” There is even a hint of Lightning McQueen retiring when someone who seems like a sports announcer asks the question,”Will Lightning McQueen retire?” And immediately to that, McQueen says, “I decide when I’m done.”

The extended trailer also teases fans of Lighting McQueen’s new rival, Jackson Storm. Jackson Storm is a part of the next generation of high tech racers, as the trailer says. And with Lightning McQueen being “outdated” in terms of engine, he seems to battle Jackson storm with his wit rather than speed. But, towards the end of the extended trailer, it seems Lightning McQueen also gets an upgrade.

If Lightning McQueen does not retire in the third franchise, could this be his last race? Or will the “upgrade” that he seem to have allow him to go on and face new rivals. As the last words of the trailer says, “It’not over until Lightning Strikes.” “Cars 3” hits US theaters on June 16 and Philippine theaters on August 23.
