Contactless payments are one of the new norms this pandemic has introduced. Even in areas of the country that are shifting to General Community Quarantine (GCQ), this kind of vigilance is still essential to keep ourselves safe. In line with that, the Department of Transportation (DOTR) and the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has partnered with PayMaya to grant not only cashless payment options but also additional livelihood opportunities to drivers and operators of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs).
As a measure to curb the further spread of Covid-19, the LTFRB has issued guidelines mandating taxis and TNVS to adopt cashless payment options like PayMaya especially in areas under GCQ. With that, PayMaya is now offering drivers and operators QR scan-to-pay capabilities via its mobile app. Not only will this make payments safer but, it will also provide them digital financial accounts they can use for easier everyday transactions. This includes bills payment, money transfer, and airtime load reloading.
In addition to that, drivers and operators may soon be able to receive contactless payments through credit, debit, and prepaid cards via PayMaya’s tap-to-pay technology. Operators may also now use PayMaya’s PayOut disbursement solution to distribute salaries and other incentives to their driver’s PayMaya accounts.
“Cashless payments, particularly in taxis and TNVS vehicles, is part of our new norm, and we are glad that our drivers and operators have easy and convenient options such as PayMaya so that they can quickly implement this solution for the safety and benefit of their riders,” said LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III.
PayMaya Alternative Livelihood Opportunities
On top of providing safer cashless payment options, the digital financial services leader is also taking part in helping in the recovery of the members of the public transport sector through additional livelihood options.
Through other upcoming products and services, PayMaya’s additional livelihood opportunities will include offering airtime load purchases, bills payment, and even remittances if the account owner also operates a sari-sari store or any physical store.
“In the ‘new normal’, we must help everyone adapt to new and safer ways to lead our lives, and that includes the transportation industry. PayMaya is proud to support the government and transport operators not just in helping them accept contactless payments, but to chart the path towards their full recovery as well,” said PayMaya Founder and CEO Orlando B. Vea.
As the pandemic continues to reshape our lives, it’s vital we take every precaution and opportunity we can to stay safe. And going contactless might just truly be one of the new norms we need at the moment. Stay safe and ingat as biyahe.
