On November 10 a magnitude 5 earthquake hit the Philippines. General Nakar in Quezon province, Metro Manila and Tarlac City are among the affected areas according to the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

According PHIVOLCS, the magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred at 3:10 p.m. on November 10. The quake directly affected General Nakar. Reports show that a quake with a magnitude of 2.8 at 12:41 a.m. already started in Looc, Occidental Mindoro. Between 12:41 a.m. and 3:10 p.m., quakes were felt at Davao Oriental and Southern Leyte. It was only at 3:10 p.m. that it reached magnitude 4.4 and stayed for almost 8 minutes in General Nakar, Quezon. The earthquake struck 24 kilometers Northwest of General Nakar at a depth of 13 kilometers.
The Inquirer says there were no immediate report of damage or injury. The report further said Intensity V was felt in General Nakar, Intensity IV in Antipolo City. Intensity III was felt in Quezon City, Manila, Makati City, San Juan City and even in Tarlac City.
A magnitude is a number that characterizes the size of an earthquake. Magnitude 2.5 to 5.4 is often felt, but only causes minor damage. Magnitude 5.5 on the other hand can cause slight damage to buildings and other structures.
