According to Sheeran himself, the song was supposed to be part of his upcoming album, “÷”(Divide). How ‘Love Yourself’ Ended Up with Justin Bieber In an interview with a radio station in the United States, 97.1 AMP Radio, he shared that the original version of the song “Love Yourself” was intended to be part of his newest album which he is currently working on. He also admitted that the song was not likely to have been included in the album. When Justin Bieber took it and changed it up a bit, he said, that changed everything as well. From being a song that would “not have made it,” it was transformed into a Billboard number 1 song. He added, “So, going from a song that would have never been released to – it was the biggest song of last year, it just became Billboard number 1 of 2016 of the whole year, and be nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys…it just shows you that you shouldn’t always write stuff off.” He Also Wrote ‘Cold Water’ During the same interview, Sheeran also revealed that he also wrote “Cold Water” in part. “Cold Water” was a Justin Bieber collaboration with Diplo and Major Lazer, an electronic music group. His memory of how this happened was vague however. He said, “It was a song I must’ve half-written somewhere at a time where I was writing a lot of songs and I did it at Benny Blanco’s house and then I got the email from Diplo just being like, ‘Yo! That ‘Cold Water’ song is dope! Can I have it?’ And I was like, ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about!’” Two New Singles: ‘Castle On A Hill’ and ‘Shape of You’ Sheeran was happy to release not just one but two new singles, “Castle On A Hill” and “Shape of You” on January 6. Both singles are part of his “Divide” album, which he has yet to announce the official release date. According to him, the new album still needs some work. His fans have been waiting for new music from Sheeran since his 2014 album “x.” Facebook Comments
