Emmy Awards 2016: Game of Thrones wins Best Drama Series

The 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards has recently announced its winners. The HBO Original series, “Game of Thrones” wins Best Drama series two years in a row!

The other nominees for the category were “The Americans”, “Better Call Saul”, “Downtown Abbey”, “Homeland”, “House of Cards”, and “Mr. Robot”.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” show has been nominated 23 times this year and according to The Guardian the HBO series won 12 awards winning a total of 38 wins beating the record of the sitcom “Frasier” which got 37.

Some of the outstanding awards were for writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss which won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series “Game of Thrones” (“Battle of the Bastards”). Director Miguel Sapochnik who grabbed the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series “Game of Thrones” (“Battle of the Bastard”).

This year’s Emmy makes “Game of Thrones” the top winning drama in Emmy History.
