The city of Baguio started the celebration of Panagbenga in 1994. The Baguio Flower Festival is highly anticipated by a lot of people every year for its month-long series of events. The month of February may be jam-packed because of Panagbenga, but don’t go away just yet! Baguio City will hold various fun events this March and these are the ones you shouldn’t miss.
March Events in Baguio
1. Panagbenga Grand Street Parade
One of the many highlights of the Baguio Flower Festival is the Panagbenga Grand Street Parade. With Panagbenga Park as its starting point, various competitors will showcase their performances all the way through Baguio Athletic Bowl. The competition is divided into three categories: Elementary Division, High School Division, and Open Division. The Grand Street Parade will be held on March 2.
2. Panagbenga Grand Float Parade
The Grand Float Parade is the most sought out event during Panagbenga. Both locals and tourists head out to witness the parade of floats adorned entirely with flowers of every kind. The parade also boasts celebrities and people are on the lookout to see who will be the guests this year. The Grand Float Parade will occur on March 3 from the DILG, passing through Session Road, Maharlika, Harrison Road, and all the way to the Melvin Jones Football Grounds as its final stop.
3. Session Road in Bloom
From March 4 to 10, Session Road will bloom with various stores and food stalls. Feast on a wide variety of snacks and drinks as you celebrate Panagbenga. Feel free to shop on goodies and souvenirs available only in Baguio City.
4. Panagbenga ECOuture Fashion Show
On March 8, a free street and avant-garde runway show organized by DE STIJL IMAGE REINVENTED and the fashion community of Baguio City will hype up everyone’s Panagbenga experience. Featuring a roster of fashion designers, hair and makeup artists and models, Panagbenga ECOuture Fashion Show will showcase streetwear made from newspapers and high fashion couture pieces created from recycled materials at the Bloom Event Area in Session Road at 5PM.
5. Pony Boys Day
Aside from the celebration of the blooming flowers in Baguio City, the long held tradition Pony Boys Day will also occur on March 9th at Wright Park. Experience the other side of the city as the horse ranchers take the center stage with fun parlor games and special contests.
6. Panagbenga Color Run 2019
A fun run with your family and friends may be the best way to conclude your Panagbenga experience! With exciting prizes and fun kits, join the Panagbenga Color Run 2019 at the Melvin Jones Grandstand this March 9 at 3PM. You can purchase your tickets early or just register on-site. 7. Panagbenga Grand Fireworks Display
To conclude the Baguio Flower Festival, the night sky of the city will light up with a showcase of fireworks from five different stations on March 10. Make sure to secure a great spot to watch the show!
