FDA, banned products, South Korean make up, Etude House, antimony

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a public health alert regarding banning the sale and use of certain South Korean cosmetics in the country. This comes after these cosmetics were discovered to contain dangerous levels of the heavy metal, antimony.

Chronic exposure to antimony in the air, according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, causes irritation in the eyes, skin and lungs. Ingestion or long-term exposure may cause diarrhea, stomach pain and stomach ulcers.
