Have you ever thought about what your favorite celebrities could be doing in their spare time? Because of social media, everybody can have a general idea. But, behind the shining smiles and magazine worthy poses, some of these celebs like Kathryn Bernardo, Liza Soberano, Alden Richards and Nadine Lustre are actually building their own empires. Here are 10 successful Filipino celebrity entrepreneurs who are taking the business industry by storm.
Early Bloomers: Young Filipino Celebrity Entrepreneurs
It is understandable that with all their efforts to give the masses what they want, artists have jam-packed schedules. And now that the craze is all about the teen stars, you’d wonder how they could have the time to put up their very own business. It’s surely no easy feat. Planning a business is almost like planning a marriage. But, here are some successful teen Filipino celebrity entrepreneurs.
1. Kathryn Bernardo
First on our list of young Filipino celebrity entrepreneurs is the star of recently concluded “La Luna Sangre.” Last year, in May, the starlet opened KathNails, her very own nail salon. In an interview with ABS CBN, she said the business was a gift to her mom and her business partner Min Bernardo. Though Kathryn isn’t fully hands-on in her business, she assured everyone that every detail of the nail salon has her touch. Aside from being terribly familiar and relatable, Kathryn fulfilled her vision of making her nail salon relaxing and affordable. KathNails could be found in 5/F The Block, SM City, North Edsa, Quezon City. Click here to read more about KathNails.
2. Nadine Lustre
Another point of comparison for netizens to pile onto Kathryn and Nadine is that Nadine also went into the nail business. In 2016, Nadine became a brand ambassador for Nails.Glow. In February of 2017, she opened up her first branch for Nails.Glow. But aside from the nail and spa business, Nadine also has her own fragrance line. The 24-year-old star personally and individually mapped out the whole concept, design, and scent of her fragrance Luster. The perfume is available for pre-order on her site CoolGirl.ph. 3. Liza Soberano
Quite a newbie to the list of Filipino celebrity entrepreneurs is Liza Soberano. Three months ago, the Bagani star opened the Hope, Hand and Foot Wellness Center in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. Along with the wellness center, Liza also opened up about her wellness advocacy. In an interview with ABS CBN, the star said that they hope to come up with more wellness treatments and products in the future.
4. Daniel Padilla
Unlike the others, Daniel Padilla’s first business venture isn’t an individual adventure. He and his celebrity buddies put their lot in together to open up the gastropub District 8 at the G-Strip in Greenhills, San Juan. These buddies include James Yap, Vice Ganda, and Billy Crawford. Like his onscreen partner Kathryn, Daniel was also very hands-on in the conceptualization of the business. In an interview with Inquirer, Daniel mentioned that he and Kathryn are also planning to put up a biz.
5. Nash Aguas
Many people remember Nash Aguas from his “Goin’ Bulilit” days. Now, he’s all grown up enough to establish his own business. Together with his Goin’ Bulilit co-star Carl Barrameda, they launched their Japanese restaurant Muramen last year in July. The two boys bonded over their love of Japanese food and took one year to plan out the business venture. Now, fans are keeping the ‘Sold Out’ signage busy in the restaurant.
6. Alden Richards
The Eat Bulaga host is unstoppable in his business ventures. In 2016, he opened the Concha’s Garden Cafe. From his love and patronage of Concha’s food came his first business venture. Now, the Cafe has 3 branches. This year, they’ll be up for franchising. But, aside from that, Alden is also planning to put up a gas station according to a report by PEP. He is also toying with the idea of a spa business. No busy schedule seems to stop Alden from keeping his place on the list of successful Filipino celebrity entrepreneurs.
7. Matteo Guidicelli
Another celebrity successfully branching out their business is Mr. Guidicelli. The second branch of Trattoria da Gianni, the Guidicelli’s family business, is soon to open at Westgate, Alabang. Matteo has teased everyone with posts of what to expect on his Instagram. The place is to be called Da Gianni Cucina Italiana.
8. Angel Locsin
Once more, the fierce and beautiful Angel Locsin stood up for what she believes in the current season of Pilipinas Got Talent where she is one of the judges. Aside from being an advocate of many things, she is also one of the most awarded actresses in the industry. Now, you can add entrepreneur to her list of titles. Angel owns a KTV business named Fuel Up Bar and KTV. The name is inspired by the actress’ love for race cars. It opened way back in 2010 but it’s still one of the most sought out bars in Quezon City. It must be because sometimes, Angel personally tends the place and cooks the food.
9. Oyo Sotto and Kristine Hermosa
Before 2017 ended, the power couple launched the K’s Cafe in Westgate Center in Alabang. For a while, they have been quietly working on the project. Now that it’s open, they have another thing to add to their plate aside from their four kids and their bike business. On top of that, both Oyo and Kristine aren’t retired from showbiz. Talk about power when these two are around.
10. Shaina Magdayao
Last on our list of Filipino celebrity entrepreneurs is Shaina Magdayao. Her business venture is one of unique status. Instead of food or beauty, Shaina chose to center her business on education. In 2015, Shaina and her partners launched the Engineering for Kids franchise. It is based off an educational program in the United States. The program introduces kids aged 4 to 14 to subjects like Math, Science, and Engineering.
Bonus!
Maine Mendoza
Not only is she talented in making the crowd laugh but she has also shown some potential in the marketing industry. She is not only an endorser of the Mcdonalds fast food chain anymore. Maine now owns the Mcdonald’s branch in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. It opened last year in August. On the opening day, Maine took to entertaining the crowd wearing the mascot Hamburglar.
