Share on Facebook Share on Twitter The Philippine Film Industry is definitively trying its very best to appeal to every audience since the rise of indie films that have awakened the far cry for meaningful storytelling and a unique taste of creativity. For 2018, commercial films have been inspired by this and are hasteful in presenting films that will be loved and appreciated. Here is a list of Filipino movies you have to watch out for this 2018: Upcoming Pinoy Movies this 2018 1. “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes.” Filipinos are known for some comedy, and sweeping in this January is a funny flick starring Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban. The duo will play the role of two wives with some hubby problems. Soon, the two partake in an interesting friendship leading to a jaw-dropping discovery. Get some laughs this 2018 with ‘Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes!’ 2. “Buy Bust.” With Anne Curtis playing the lead role in this martial arts-infused action-drama film. You can definitely expect some heavy, eerie cinematography as director Erik Matti of ‘Seklusyon’ is known for it. It’s a film about an Anti-drug operative and the reality that is currently going on in the society today. There hasn’t been an official release date yet. 3. “Miss Granny.” Joyce Bernal will be directing this adaptation of the South Korean romantic comedy of the same name. It narrates the story of an old woman who finds herself in the body of a 20-year-old girl. It will be starring Sarah G and James Reid– a new and unlikely duo. The film is yet to set a release date but it is said that it will premiere on November– on Viva Films’ anniversary offerings. 4. “Darna.” All we know for certain is that Darna will be directed by Erik Matti as well and it will star “Just the Way You Are” actress Liza Soberano. A trailer will be released sooner or later so keep that in check. 5. “Never Not Love You.” In the couple’s comeback, JaDine is back with a new film to be released this early 2018– although there is little to no news about the showing date. James Reid and Nadine Lustre will be back to get the kilig going. 6. “Eerie.” For the horror fans out there, here’s a creepy flick starring Bea Alonzo and ABS-CBN president Charo Santos Concio, directed by Mikhail Red. According to the director, the film will first premiere in Korea before it will be aired locally. If the international premiere is finished by July, expect to see ‘Eerie’ around August. 7. “Pedro Penduko.” It’s been about 18 years since we last heard or saw about Pedro Penduko– and this year, he’s making a comeback. James Reid will also be playing lead man for this action-fantasy movie. Reports say it requires some serious martial arts training and the 24-year-old is in for some stunts. 8. “Mr. and Mrs. Cruz.” Directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo– the director and writer of the hit Indie film ‘Kita Kita,’ this story is sure to enchant the viewers. It stars Ryza Cenon and JC Santos in a Palawan-themed adventure. Although, there is something hauntingly painful about it–like something sad is going to happen. But hey, watch it before you make any conclusions! It premieres this January too! 9. “Kasal.” ‘Kasal’ is about stories of three different people whose live interconnect in the story through an event. And you guessed it– it’s a wedding. Watch as Bea Alonzo, Paulo Avelino and Derek Ramsay reveal an almost suspenseful story of three universes colliding in a seemingly simple event. 10. “Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi.” This is evidently a unique kind of story– an ironic twist of how love exists in the most unlikely places. And even more, unlikely circumstances. Sue Ramirez plays the role of a girl who happens to get sick of Wifi and is sent off to a far-off rural area where you are sure to be isolated from signal or any of that mumbo-jumbo. Jameson Blake is also her leading man in the story. 11. “Born Ready.” While you probably haven’t seen much talk about this action-filled film, it stars Yassi Pressman– and she’s showing off some skills in martial arts. It’s directed by Luch Balao, and features MMA fighter Erwin Tagle to provide some ninja moves for our lead actress. Check out some of Yassi’s fighting skills with ‘Born Ready!’ 12. “Meet Me in St. Gallen.” From the producers of ‘Kita Kita,’ we are again met with another love story. Some scenes are set in Switzerland– so you can expect interesting sceneries from the film. It stars ‘Isang Daang Tula Para Kay Stela’ actress Bela Padilla and former child actor Carlo Aquino– who look great together, by the way. The release date is yet to be announced.
